Along the Lenten Journey

Family Worship Service March 10!

We will gather again for a family worship experience on March 10 at 10am in the chapel. We will consider the story of the lost sheep. What is it like to be lost and estranged from God? How does God find you? Come and worship as a family, as a community in an intimate and hands-on setting. Bring a friend!

Raising Spiritually Healthy Children - 40 - Laugh Often and Much

"But let the righteous be joyful; let them exult before God; let them be jubilant with joy." Psalm

 68:3

Laughter should be a major component of anyone's health plan. It doesn't cost you any money, can actually save relationships, and pays high premiums for all who get their daily dose.

The deep-bellied, unabashed laughter of an infant makes even the hard-hearted among us loosen up and smile. Families should be filled with laughter. You and your children can have fun laughing together, and other people will want to be with you if you're known for being the family who laughs together.

Try to make each other laugh. See who can make the… Read full article >

Kids who are not participating in the chime piece are invited to work on their children's bulletins in worship.

Vacation Bible School, anyone??

Dear Plymouth Families:
The February 9, 2013 leadership retreat inspired me to think about ways we might reach beyond thewalls of Plymouth to learn from others and share our lives and faith with our broader community. Although we have family camps and camps for tweens and teens, we have never sponsored a Vacation Bible School in Seattle.
Years ago we had a strong relationship with Mt. Zion, but since Tony Robinson left and their pastor, Reverend Samuel McKinney retired, it has withered. To that end, I spoke with Georgia McDade, a member of Mount Zion Baptist, who, for the past three years has run a 9 week summer program therefor kids ages… Read full article >

FOCUS Project for K-1-2

Palms

Beginning Sunday, March 3rd, our intern, Debbie Maund, will begin a FOCUS project with our younger elementary kids. She will

invite them into the telling of the story that happens on Palm Sunday, the story of Jesus coming into Jerusalem.

This Sunday, they will share the story, considering the people and the clothes and palms they used to welcome Jesus into the city. They will learn a "Hosanna" song, do some craft projects and will even get something from the story to take home . . . what could it be?

On March 17th, they will prepare the story of Jesus coming into Jerusalem to share with the congregation.

Finally, on Palm Sunday, the kids will share the scripture story during worship with props, action and song!
