Iglesia Morava Visit
Greetings friends, If you are up to date on your Herald reading, you know by now Edith Hebbert and Ashley Hodgson Rios will be visiting Seattle around the All Saints/All Souls weekend. If you are just hearing this for the first time, it's true, very soon we're hosting Edith and Ashley. (* see note below to catch up) The theme is Celebration and Gratitude for 27 years of ministry between Iglesia Morava and Plymouth as we lift up and honor the closure of the financial relationship between us. T Since they are here for 5 full days, we want to make sure that as many people who would like to make connections with can do so. To that end, I've… Read full article >
learning about prayer . . .
After two weeks studying prayer and one week to go, depending on which class they attend, your kids might have some new answers to:
what are some new ways you've learned to pray?
who do you pray for?
when do we pray during the church year?
how do you make an altar?
what is a prayer box?
what is your special way of ending class?
Remember your Baptism
Families who are a part of faith communities often ask, what can I be doing at home? How can I help my kids grow into their own spirituality? Honestly, there are very simple things we can do as a family that will naturally encourage spiritual growth . . . things that a lot of which families do anyway. Still, it's nice to know that the things we do are helping our kids in this way. Nancy Bostrom wrote a lovely little book called, 99 Ways to Raise Spiritually Healthy Children, from which I will share excerpts to plant seeds, share ideas, and offer encouragement for families of ALL SHAPES AND SIZES.
Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) is completely out of coats for men and is in need of more warm winter coats to hand out. Used coats are fine as long as they close, with working zippers or buttons. If you have any to share, please bring them to the box in narthex. Sunday Oct. 27 or Nov 3. Time is of the essence. Thank you for your ministry to those in need!
PreK Mission Project
Our class did a great job of collecting and hanging hats, scarves, gloves and mittens for the women and children of Mary's Place last Sunday. Participants were Annika, Noelle, Liam, Lucy and Jocelyn. Special thanks to Annika and Liam for sharing what they brought with others. Using a clothespin is still pretty tricky for this age group, but they stuck with it! We are beginning to build a sense of belonging in our group by recognizing each others' faces and names and some of our Sunday routines. Please come as often as you can. We are all blessed by each other's presence. Carol Mooney for the Crib, Toddler and PreK staff
