Masterminds & Wingmen This Sunday

Are you interested in joining others at Plymouth in lunch and conversation about Rosalind Wiseman’s recent book, Masterminds + Wingmen: Helping our boys copy with schoolyard power, locker-room tests, girlfriends, and the new rules of boy world? Wiseman shares insights gained from conversations with over 200 young men in middle and high schools, along with practical suggestions to shift how you talk with the young men in your life. These lunchtime conversations will be facilitated by Jennifer Castle, Barbara Staley, Brandon Duran, and Cory Maclay on five Sundays.

Advent Devotional

Our website offers a daily devotional for connecting with this season. The focus for this first week is PEACE.

Thank You!

Thank you so much to everyone who donated toiletries to WHEEL! I have pounds and pounds of shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, and many other items! I will need a cart to move it all!

This coming Sunday (Dec 15) the K-2 kids will be putting together packets of toiletries for the women during the 11 am hour in room 321! The kids will gather at the front doors of the church and then go with Beverly and Jamie up to their classroom. They will be preparing to brighten and touch the lives of many! Amen!

Longest Night

On the longest night of the year, we recognize the dark and broken places in our lives that need acknowledgment and space, particularly around grief and loss, during this time of year. All are welcome Saturday, Dec 21, 5 pm for worship and 6 pm for dinner.

Justice in January

While the elementary class is working on their mission project for the WHEEL women, the confirmation class has been preparing to continue the theme of Justice into the new year in the elementary classes. For the month of January, the confirmation class will be teaching the kids about racism, using themes around fair/unfair and being treated a certain way because of things you can't change. The youth began their study with a visit from Sylvia Odom, who shared several vignetts from her life and living in a racist world. The youth are excited to spend time with the kids and teach them about justice and how to live in love.

The Believers

January 11, 2014 6-9 pm at Wayside UCC The Believers is an unprecedented feature documentary that shatters assumptions about faith, gender, and religion. Built around the world's rst transgender gospel choir, the film portrays the choir's dilemma - how to reconcile their gender identity with the widespread belief that changing
one's gender goes against the word of God. After the movie, Aidan Key, Founder and Director of the Gender Odyssey conference, will lead a
discussion. There is no cost for this event; however, movie treats will be
available for a donation, which will go to Aidan’s organization
for Education and Support Services for families and… Read full article >
