I’m excited to share that the Family Worship service, scheduled for February 10 is taking shape. In the protestant church we have an ancient outline for church that serves us well: gather, word (scripture), respond, send. God Speaks in Narnia
While I knew the story as a child from watching public television, I don't believe I ever read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. What a delight it is to read it as an adult and see Lewis' beautiful theology unfold on the pages.
I was quite taken by the robin who greets the four siblings as they enter Narnia. There is a language spoken between them as the children recognize the bird's behavior as communication. With eyes to see their environment interacting with them and imagination to ascertain meaning, they were able to find their way to safety, hospitality and a warm meal, which is precisely what they were seeking.
Elijah has arrived! He came into the world at 2:22am on 1/14/13 at 8lbs 1oz, 20.5in long, and a full head of hair. We are thrilled beyond belief. Mother and baby are doing well. We are all resting and enjoying one another. Many thanks for your thoughts, encouragement, and prayers.
