Family Worship Fun!
The kids were mesmerized by our mobile of signs during our Family Worship service on Sunday. God speaks many messages to us in many different ways, but always in a language and context that we understand.
An Invitation to Parents & Teachers
Behold! The CY Board has a new idea! This past week we have tossed this idea around, turned it inside out and upside down, we have looked at it from multiple angles and changed it's shape several times. The idea has stirred our imaginations, encouraged conversations and has sparked our hearts, as well as those of the staff.
So, what is our idea?? It is a new structure for our children's faith formation program as a faithful response to who we are and who we are called to be.
We have 2 opportunities for you to hear about our new and offer your response, questions and comments:
This Sunday after worship, Brandon is hosting another event for parents of youth. Sue Eastgard will make a presentation in the lounge about teens and suicide. The presentations in this series have been rich and informative for parents - I highly encourage you to attend!
Youth & Children At All Church Retreat
This Sunday there will be a sign-up table in the lounge for the All Church Retreat. I encourage you to stop by and register your family!
The children's program will be led by Lamar Lofton, who has music, games and theme-related activities in store for all who attend!
We are looking forward to having as many confirmation youth as can attend. Lamar would love their help in leading an activity for the children and the confirmation teachers have a program planned for Saturday. Confirmands are encouraged to come to camp, stay with their families and attend the confirmation program. The schedule will be decided and communicated ASAP.
Multifaith Conversation on Homelessness
Join us for a multi-faith conversation about what our individual and community beliefs call us to do in the face of the ever expanding phenomena of homelessness in our society. This forum will be an opportunity to explore the roots of this effort within each of our faith traditions by having faith leaders share their perspectives, as well as through group discussion time. Come share and learn about interfaith opportunities to serve the homeless and change the systems that allow for homelessness to occur. As individuals and as communities, we have been called to this work.
I am pleased to announce that the CY Board is committed to running an OWL program for 7th and 8th grade on Wednesday nights for the 2013-14 program year.
