CY Board is doing teacher recruitment a little different this year. We are looking for groups of adults to come together to teach 3-week blocks of time in the elementary program. We will be looking for 6-8 adults to gather for a potluck and plan their time with the leadership of a member of the CY board. No teacher training, just a potluck with hang out time, instruction on the process and best practices in classroom management. What kind of topics would inspire you to teach our kids? Healing . . . Letting Go . . . Stewardship . . . Prayer and Making Ritual . . . Play . . . Bible Stories . . . Sabbath . . . anything catch your attention?
We are excited about our new UCC curriculum, Faith Practices, which teaches kids (and adults) how to practice their Christian Faith. Think of it like practicing Yoga or Tai Chi – how do we practice our faith? The kids will learn what it is like to do all of these pieces so that they can start to make connections between what they learn in class and what happens in worship. There would also be regular Sundays where kids would be in worship to participate with the rest of the… Read full article >
Children invited to sing this Sunday
The children have been invited by Youth Forum to sing during the youth-led worship service this Sunday, June 2nd. Rosemary and Jamie will teach kids a very simple song during their normal music times. All children in the church are invited to participate, so if you're not in choir or the PreK room, just come to 10to10 (at 9:50) in the chapel and Rosemary will be there. Thanks to YF for the invitation!!
Children’s Choir Leads Worship at Horizon House
On May 21st, Plymouth’s Children’s Choir visited Horizon House and led a very moving Sunday service for about fifty residents. Members of the children’s choir led the call to worship, the hymns, the prayer and response as well as the closing. Visitors joined the choir in singing “For the Beauty of the Earth,” and “In the Bulb There is a Flower. ” Rosemary talked about the words to “The Seed,” a song she wrote about how it takes patience and trust in God’s love to wait for God’s call to shine forth with our gifts. The children sang six other songs they learned this year in choir, concluding the service with “God of the Sparrow, God of the… Read full article >
