Thanks so much to Kristin for offering to be a consistent presence in the K-2 class this year! Kristin will teach sometimes and other times be the familiar face in the room, know the children, get the group's attention when necessary and lead the opening and closing of each class.
From Kristin: I am the wife of Paul Ford and mother of Esme and Eamon. Just finished seven years of working in my children's cooperative schools (pre-school and elementary). Most of my career had been through various art endeavors, but I also have enjoyed working as a project manager on architecture and interior design projects. Share this delightful story by Australian author Mem Fox. A young child lives next to a nursing home. With the counsel of some aged friends, he figures out how to include a failing elder in vital connection and communication. Who do you know at a nursing home you might visit? Breakfast is a wonderful thing - people love it! Our staff and a few volunteers worked hard last year to put breakfast together for the congregation each Sunday and it was a lot of work. Because we have had such a hard time getting congregational help for this wonderful program, we will only have breakfast on the first Sunday of the month this year, though we will likely re-evaluate after Christmas.
We wanted to let all parents know that elementary won't have snack during class, however children are welcome to stop by the Hospitality hour in Hildebrand between 9:45 and 10:30 and again after worship at 12pm. Please talk with a member of CY… Read full article >
5th Sunday Composting Project
We're excited to announce Kids Composting for this program year! Over the summer we were approached by business students from Seattle University who were looking to partner with some churches around Seattle to teach children about the impact that composting makes on our planet. They will tailor their lesson directly to who we are as a community and where our children are in their learning process about earth justice and faith. The SU students asked for one Sunday per quarter to meet with our children and as it we have 3 unprogrammed Sundays in our church school year . . . the 5th Sundays of the month! Voila - we have a winner!
