Dear Puppet Centre subscribers!

Happy World Puppetry Day to all of our followers around the world.
We hope you're taking today to look at all of your Puppet achievements over the last year and celebrate all things puppetry. Let us know what you're doing today by tweeting us or tagging us on facebook - we always like to hear what you're up to.

In the spirit of puppetry UNIMA decided to re-share a World Puppetry Day message written by the late Professor Henryk Jurkowski in 2011 which we think is definitely worth a read. To see the full message from UNIMA click here.

There are, as always, lots of exciting events and developments in the world of puppetry which we've only just tapped the surface of below. If there's something exciting in your area that we've missed off, or if you have something you'd like us to share please get in touch. Before we start though we wanted to say a big congratulations to Skipton Puppet Festival who have received the funding to bring puppeteers to their festival in September. Watch this space for more info and what's on.

There are also two festivals happening soon in the North of the UK...
Puppet Animation Festival is the UK’s largest performing arts event for children and starts this week from the 25 March - 15 April. It's produced by our friends at Puppet Animation Scotland and is definitely worth the trip whether you're in Scotland already or fancy an excuse to visit.

Newcastle Puppetry Festival "Moving Parts" is also fast approaching from the 27th March - 1st April. There are some great shows and activities lined up including Marionette Making with Sian Kidd and a 3-Person Puppet Manipulation workshop with Flabbergast Theatre. It's a brand new performance and training festival and we wish them the very best of luck with their first year!

If you're in Bristol...
There's an all day workshop Trash Hack - with Chris Pirie on the 25th March making instant puppets out of rubbish. This workshop in re-purposing industrial and domestic junk is ideal for people who are new to puppetry. Be prepared to stretch your imagination and dare to fail and build another.
Lunch included. Chris is Director of Green Ginger UK and Co-Producer of Bristol Festival of Puppetry. Workshop cost £30 - performance £7.

And in Surrey...
There's an exhibition of the late Margaret Robinson art and puppets is currently on display at the Chertsey Museum in Surrey. Get down there before 22nd April as it's only a temporary exhibition.

Our London gathering:
Thanks to everyone who came to our Puppetry Gathering in January around a viewing of 'The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings' by Kneehigh and Little Angel Theatre. It was great to catch up and hear what you are up to. Watch this space for the next one.

As always, we would love you to get involved with Animations Online - your thoughts and comments are valuable to us and are vital to keep the puppetry world networking. Drop us an email if you would like to write something, whether it's a provocation from a show you've seen or a question you'd like to pose to other puppeteers and companies. If you want it shared, we can do it!

Helping Puppet Centre: We're looking for an administrator
Puppet Centre is seeking a volunteer administrator. If you love puppets and have a little time to spare to help us answer general enquiries, update our social media feeds, and help us have ideas for how to celebrate the art form and improve the lives of puppeteers, please get in touch. We can offer desk space in the heart of the thriving BAC - and great connections in the world of puppetry. Please email or contact us on social media. We look forward to hearing from you.

Like many other organisations in the current arts economy, Puppet Centre can offer more when we have voluntary help to lend us a hand and extend what we're able to do. If you are interested in supporting Puppet Centre or have an idea for an activity we could run using volunteers, send us an email and let us know.

In the mean time keep in touch with us on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links below, and we hope to see you at a puppetry gathering near you soon.
