Quality Time

I love the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday because it focuses on giving thanks, gratitude and appreciation.  The holiday was even more special because Shea was home from college for a full week and for that, I’m thankful.

Although many people participated in "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" shopping; we found ourselves simply enjoying the down time.  Getting some extra rest and spending quality time with family and friends rejuvenated and refueled our head, heart and body.

Spending time together, enjoying conversation and playing games, has always been a special way of bonding in our family.  Even though we are surrounded by technology, my fondest memories are created when the focus is on face-to-face communication.  This is how to enrich relationships.

Some of the best conversations can take place at the dinner table or sitting around playing cards or games or working a puzzle.  Sound old school and out dated? Well, as I see it, this is fundamental to well-being and, unfortunately, is missing in our fast-paced society.

Two of our favorite games, which I recommend, are
SPOT IT & QWITCH card game. These are fun, fast-paced games and a great way to get everyone involved - easy to play and no batteries required.  Trust me - they are a hit with all ages.

If you allow it, other things will invade your life. Beware - what becomes “urgent” doesn’t always line up with what is important for the long term.

I whole-heartedly embrace my TCOY Philosophy and know how important it is to my well-being and the legacy I pass on to others.  The greatest gift you can give yourself and your loved ones is to take time to take care of yourself; physically, emotionally and spiritually.

If you want things in your life to change, you need to change things in your life.

Every Christmas my gifts to Shea include a need, a want and a read.  We read two of our favorite books,
You Are Special and You Are Mine, every year. We have made this is a tradition in our home and encourage you to consider it as well.
From our home to yours, Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad and Happy Chanukah!

There are many ways to measure success; not the least of which is the way your child describes you when talking to a friend. Unknown
A friend hears the song in my
heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.
William Arthur Ward

You see things; and you say, "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say "Why not?"  George Bernard Shaw

Strength from Scripture:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.  John 14:27

Happy Holidays!
