                             The Importance of Cutting Back

When was the last time you stood at the base of a tree and looked up into the massive branches above?  Nature is pretty amazing.  Remember, the mighty oak was once a seed that held its ground.

I purchased my current home in 2000 and was immediately drawn to the mature trees that provide beauty, shade and shelter.  As the years pass tree maintenance is required and includes pruning to allow for healthy new growth and an aesthetic shape.

The mid-west is known for its thunderstorms, tornados and high winds that cause a lot of damage.  One night last month, while working in my office with the window open during a storm, I was startled by a loud crack followed by a snapping sound that ended with a loud crashing noise.

I literally jumped at a loud thud that was only a few feet from my window.  A limb 25 feet long and 20 inches in diameter had fallen from a tree in my back yard.  I was blessed it fell away from my deck and house causing no damage; however, it definitely got my attention!

The next day, I surveyed all the trees surrounding my home and realized many limbs had grown so large over the years without proper maintenance, they were covering my roof.  Any one of these tree limbs could cause substantial damage if they fell on my home.

It wasn't a matter of "if" but "when" the weight of these limbs would break from the tree.  The Hunger Games movie theme came to mind and I knew the odds were definitely not in my favor.  Ignoring the situation would result in reacting in a crisis which would also cause a lot of stress.

Choosing to be pro-active, I called the tree experts I've used in the past; Danny's Tree Service KC.  Danny and his crew came out and transformed my overgrown trees; significantly reducing the risk of damage to my home.

It was interesting to watch the workers in the trees and see how they calculated where to place ropes on the branches to bring them to the ground without causing damage. To view some photo's of what I call the "tree stylist”, visit and "LIKE" their new Facebook Page.  I highly recommend the company and, please mention my name if you contact them.

There have been several storms since I had my trees cut back. Some neighbors lost trees and massive tree limbs on the ground were a common sight in my neighborhood.  Once again the old saying holds true; “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”  My timing couldn't have been better for making the decision to trim those trees.

Do you need to take action and address your state of well-being before a health crisis occurs? You don't have to be sick to get better.  If you continue to neglect and make poor lifestyle choices, what will be the emotional, physical and financial costs of a health crisis?

Are you run down and realizing things need to change but not sure how or where to begin?  If nothing changes, nothing changes.  My on-line group coaching provides a personal consultation with on-going coaching support.
