Have you ever had a desire deep inside that reminds you not to settle, to stay the course and listen to your heart’s desire? I truly believe you are not given a dream without the ability to make it come true. Fear and doubt kill more dreams than actions ever will. Don't get too comfortable. Refuse to accept or settle for status quo.
Success doesn't come to you, you go get it.
I'm not saying being comfortable is bad; relaxing is good for the mind, body and spirit. What I am saying is, growth happens only when you step beyond what is comfortable.
Change is difficult but it's the process that is challenging. A change in routine can cause emotional, physical and psychological stress. Some stress is not necessarily bad if you understand what is causing it and learn how to work through it and grow from it.
This year, I chose to step out in faith and take some dramatic actions to grow. And grow I did! I learned that once you've grown from experience you never see things the same again.
The biggest energy vampire in our lives is fear. It can keep you stuck in the past or worrying about the future. There is no time like the present to be bold; whether it is with your career, your health or your relationships. Life requires action; choosing to do nothing is passive and you may not like the consequences.
Earlier this year I chose to take a job in Florida. I was at peace with my decision to make the change and things fell into place. I saw this as an opportunity for personal and professional growth. After much consideration and prayer my new journey began.
I adopted an sense of adventure as I moved to a different state where I didn't know anyone and started a new job. I did a great deal of exploration and discovered new and interesting places and made new friends.
Over the course of a few months, I thoroughly enjoyed my work and forming new friendships but my heart ached to be home again. The void was too great so I decided to change direction again. I resigned and returned to Kansas.
Making that move was not a mistake. It was a time of growth and time to decide where I am truly meant to be. It was an awesome experience. Was it challenging? Absolutely! However, looking back, I feel blessed to have had the opportunity for those new experiences.
The blessing continued when I returned to Kansas. I was welcomed home with endless hugs from my friends, family and clients. Being welcomed back with such love brought me immense joy and happy tears. Priceless.
The next blessing was finding my dream job with a company whose values and mission statement mirror my own. I found the job on a random Google search. It is especially fortunate that the company is located only a quarter mile from my church and within a couple miles from my home.
My vision from childhood was to make a difference in the lives of others. It began with a career as a professional athlete and coaching racquetball. This developed into my TCOY Wellness coaching and TCOY Racquetball businesses.
The position at Florida Hospital allowed me to branch out and touch hundreds of lives each week as I facilitated a wellness program for new employees for their six hospitals. Now, my territory has been enlarged even more with my position as the Health and Wellness Coach at TVH Americas
If I needed a word to describe the transition, I'd choose fruition. Webster’s dictionary defines fruition as, a noun; attainment of anything desired; realization; accomplishment. Example: “After years of hard work she finally brought her idea to full fruition."
Comfort zones are good for a while but they are not meant to last for long periods of time. What would you attempt if you knew you wouldn't fail? Are you willing to be uncomfortable for a time to get what you really want?
No one can make you change; only you can change yourself or the things you do. You determine your attitude and desires. It's vital to know what you want and why you want it because external factors will inevitably create doubt and challenges.
If we did all the things we were capable of, we would constantly surprise ourselves. You are enough and you are amazing. Live your life to the fullest with the passion of a warrior. Until next month...
