Feliz año! The January Discover Baja Newsletter is here! This month we bring you updates and news in the Baja Bulletin; Graham Mackintosh's bus adventures; motorcycle season in Baja; the January Baja fishing report by Gary Graham; and our favorite picks for where to travel in Baja this year.

It's been a tumultuous start to 2017 for Mexico. Gas price increases that took place on January 1 as a part of the deregulation of Mexico's fuel industry led to protests and gas shortages nationwide. You can read about the most recent Baja road situations and gas availability on our Baja Road Conditions Page.

We hope that those of you in the San Diego area will join us for a lecture by Graham Mackintosh on February 9th. It's sure to be an entertaining evening hearing about Graham's latest Baja adventures. Don't forget to RSVP early as space is limited and this is sure to be a popular event!

FMM tourist permit prices increased on January 1. Don't forget your FMM tourist permits or your Mexican auto insurance before heading south! If you spend less than 120 days a year in Baja, you can save $100 on average on your annual Mexican auto insurance policy by becoming a Discover Baja member. This is because our members have access to our SUPER SAVER Mexican auto insurance policies that are not available to the regular public. Sign up online to become a Discover Baja member or get a free quote on Mexican auto insurance!  Or give us a call at 800-727-2252 or come into our office in San Diego.

See you in Baja!
