The Annual meeting has been scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 2020 after service at 12:15. Your attendance in person or via Free Conferencing is required and appreciated. If you choose to attend virtually, we need you to join through free conference in order to see you and for you to be able to vote for Board Members as well as the Bylaw changes we are adding (instructions below).
The Board applicants are Larry Etheredge and Nina Miller. It was decided that due to attendance and the Covid restrictions that the ballot should be limited to two nominees. If you want to nominate someone from the floor that is your right, and you may do so that day.
The Bylaw change and add were recommended by UWM (Unity World Wide Ministries) to address meetings when we are in situations like this.
The changes are as follows:
Participation in the Annual Meeting: Section 3.05
Old Bylaw: (e) PARTICIPATION: Participation in the business affairs of any membership meeting shall be restricted to active members in attendance. Participation of other persons in discussion of business must be approved by two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the active members in attendance
New Bylaw: e) Participation. The right to speak in debate, to make motions, and to vote during annual meetings shall be restricted to those members who are present or in person by electronic means. The right of other persons to speak during membership meetings may be extended by the presiding officer or by a two-thirds (2/3rds) vote. UWM’s representative(s) have a right to speak when they are at the meeting.
ARTICLE X– Emergency Situations
In the case of a national emergency declared by the President of the United States, a State Emergency declared by the governor, or a local emergency as determined by a two-thirds (2/3rds) vote of the local ministry trustees present and voting, the Board of Trustees is authorized to meet by electronic means and to have the full power to adjust budgets and cancel/postpone events or reschedule them as electronic meetings. As long as the emergency lasts, the Board of Trustees may take any other emergency actions deemed helpful and necessary to assure the welfare of this ministry.
