The #PlacemakingTrain has left the station: last week, Ryan Smolar of PlacemakingUS departed from Delray Beach, Florida up to Jacksonville and into Savannah, Georgia. Yesterday, Ethan Kent of PlacemakingX hopped the midnight train to Georgia at NYC's Moynihan Station.

Savannah, with its sultry forest of mossy oaks, left a lasting impression as a city within a forest. We were charmed by its friendly and talkative locals, antebellum architecture, Oglethorpe's park squares, and the low country boil, with simmered fresh-caught shrimp. This is a place we can't wait to take you and we'll definitely have to have a Placemaking Weekend here someday!

We've been visiting Jacksonville, Florida every 6 months and seeing incredible things happening there under the guidance of its hyper-connected community network of placemakers. Highlights of this trip included visiting the Eastside Legacy Business Council to see the progress the black business corridor is making with beautification projects. It was good timing to arrive during Downtown Vision Inc's incredible River Jams series which featured a Shaggy reggae concert on The Landing.

We had a great lunch with Matthew Clark and his Colliers Dream Team who help seed a lot of exciting food business concepts in JAX. They'll be helping friends at Future of Cities with their exciting Phoenix Arts District revitalization.
