Have you ever wanted to learn more about some of the behind-the-scenes info about our projects but didn't know where to go? Well wonder no more, our wiki has the answers! Our wiki has been in existence for about 3 years, but there is always more to explore and learn because it grows and evolves along with our Chapter. There is frequently new content being added as new projects are created and existing projects get improved each time around.

Go to sheboyganjaycees.com/Projects (you will be prompted to login) and check out our full project list. Click through each one to learn more and you will see that some of the larger projects have a number of sub-pages as well. Most projects have a listing of recent chairpersons, so feel free to contact those people if you want to find out more about what it takes to be a chairperson.

Another important item related to projects is the Chairman's Planning Guide, also known as the CPG. This document is an invaluable tool that can be utilized to track all stages of a project from planning, to implementation, and finally evaluation. The CPG is used by Jaycees in chapters all across the country. Our CPG template is available on sheboyganjaycees.com/Forms

The monthly chapter & board meeting minutes are available at

Hi everybody, it’s (finally) summer!!! That means a lot of outdoor fun and festivals with other Wisconsin Jaycees!

Outstanding Young Adult/ Outstanding Young Wisconsinite Program
At our March chapter meeting OYA/OYW Program Manager Eric Haban discussed the OYA/OYW program. Do you know a young person between the ages of 14-40 who has made a positive impression and lasting impact on you and your community? If so, recognize them for their hard work. JCI WI offers two excellent programs to make this recognition a reality:
  1. Outstanding Young Adult recognizes excellence in youth ages 14-24. Candidates from Wisconsin who excel in academics, leadership, and/or community service compete for this prestigious award.
  2. Outstanding Young Wisconsinite recognizes excellence in Wisconsin residents 25-40 who excel in the areas of business or civic leadership, community service, government service, or athletic accomplishment.
Click here to download the application form, the deadline to submit is June 30. Contact Eric Haban with questions/concerns at jciwioyaoywpm@gmail.com

Greetings Fellow Brat Enthusiasts!

We are officially two months away already from Brat Days! Planning and organizing continues to go well on all aspects of this glorious three day event. The Brat Days committee is doing fabulous work in continuing preparations. One bit of news to share – we are aiming to have the first batch of Event Staff shirts available for distribution at the June Chapter meeting. Be sure to get your t-shirt sizes to Mychal Seger of our Manpower team as soon as you can! The shirt color this year is Texas Orange – a burnt orange type of color. So not too bright and not too dark so don’t worry – they aren’t prison color or anything like that!

At the last Chapter meeting, Mychal announced our need for folks to sign up to be ticket and beer stand chairs. Many thanks to everyone who signed up to be a stand chair at that meeting! Your part as a stand chair for Brat Days is most important to the success of our operations. If you haven’t signed up to be a stand chair yet, be sure to contact Mychal to let him know of your interest or you can let him know at the next Chapter meeting.

Please also consider stopping by for setup week to help us get the grounds prepped at Kiwanis Park if you haven’t signed up for any of those days already. The days of setup are Monday, July 28 to Wednesday, July 30. We will be on the grounds each of those days starting at 8:00AM. Can’t come during the day? No problem – we will likely be on the grounds well into the afternoon/evening so please feel free to drop on by around that time to see what you can help with. Any time you can dedicate to helping with setup is most appreciated and helps us to ensure we remain within our intended setup schedule. We will have food and beverages on the grounds during setup days for breakfast time and lunch for all who come to help!

Just as important is cleanup day on Sunday, August 3. We need all hands on deck that day. We take three days to set up but then we have to take everything down in one day and clean up the park grounds. Please plan on being there starting at 9:00AM Sunday. There’s reward for that you know – free all you can eat pizza buffet dinner and vodka lemonades at Bourbon Street after we’re all done! You can only get in on that celebration if you come to the grounds for cleanup!

Our next committee meeting is Thursday, July 12, 7:00PM at Weimann’s. Any one at all is welcome to come to the meeting to see what’s happening for planning. There’s only one more committee meeting after that, so these last two months are your chance to come see what’s all underway and perhaps take an interest in helping with a committee area. It’s never too late to get involved!

Hello DOTers!

DID YOU KNOW?! IT'S OUR 40th YEAR OF SCARING?!?!
It’s never too early to start thinking how to scare the crap out of people! DOT 2014 is underway! We are so excited to be the chairpersons this year. And we are ready to tear down the current house and start building our new rooms!

One of our goals is to include more Jaycees in this awesome project. You don’t have to dress up and scare people, you don’t have to be in the dark, you don’t have to be afraid! There are plenty of ways you can help out without stepping foot upstairs in the “scare zone”. Yes, we just called it that.

We still have open director positions – you would be part of the committee to help get the house running, no acting or scariness necessary! We really need your help with this... there are a lot of open spots and only a few Jaycees are involved. We promise you it'll be worth your time, all we ask is you come check it out!

To keep up-to-date of the happenings down at the house, check out the Wiki site and the Facebook Volunteer Page - both of which include a calendar of events, important documents, and other sweet info.

Important Dates!
• Next Meeting: June 12th @ 6:30pm
• Big Construction Weekend: June 28th & 29th @ 12pm

If you are interested in anything at all – please don’t hesitate to call/text/email us!

THANKS YO!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the 4th Annual Tourney of Taverns!
Whether you were on a team or you were a volunteer, your support was greatly appreciated! Once again, TOT had a good turn out and made money. We are able to donate $1,000 dollars to the Miracle League at the chapter meeting on June 5th. More details will come as the numbers are finalized.

Thanks again!

Participation Incentives

Did you know that every time you run a project, attend a meeting, or participate in our events that you are working your way towards the chance to win fabulous prizes? Throughout the year Ashley Yurk is tracking the participation of all chapter members so that at our banquet in January we convert the points into tickets that can be used to enter into drawings for tons of awesome prizes. We've had prizes such as Coach purses, power tools, tablets, gift cards, gift baskets, and much more. So be sure to sign-in at every meeting or event in order to earn as many points as possible. Click HERE to view the current incentive tracking spreadsheet.

Hello My Fellow Do-Gooders!

WARM AND FUZZY!!!!! Doesn't that just sound nice?! We are bringing back the tradition of warm and fuzzy. June's meeting we are looking for donations for the Humane Society. Some wishlist items include: Canned Baby Food (Chicken Flavor), cat litter (clumping & non-clumping), Peanut Butter, Rawhide chewies, cat/dog toys, office supplies, etc.

Beach Clean Up!! 6 of us lovely Jaycees helped the Great Lakes on May 17th by cleaning up the beach at King's Park. Thank you all for helping out! We collected over 20lbs of garbage. It was an adventure for sure, from the 1000s of cigarette butts to counting dead fish and birds.

ROAD DUTY! Since we're on a cleaning kick - be prepared for a Sunday in July to go walk the road and pick up trash on our adopted street. We promise the same fun of getting some sun while doing some good. Hope to see ya there!

Remember... service to humanity is the BEST WORK OF LIFE... so let's donate what time we got to better not only our lives, but the community at large
