Hello my fellow Jaycees and friends,

We are awesome. You should seriously pat yourself on the back. How many people do you know are spending their free time helping out others throughout the year? Not many right. It takes an awesome person to become and stay a Jaycee. I compiled 3 points that hopefully you already know but could share with your friends who ask why you do what you do.

#3: Volunteering strengthens your community.
As a volunteer you help:
  • Support youth (Jaycee Scholarship)
  • Beautify the community (beach and street cleanups)
  • Support families (food drives)
#2: You learn a lot.
Volunteers learn things like these:
  • Self: Volunteers discover hidden talents that may change your view on your self worth.
  • Government: Through working with local non-profit agencies, volunteers learn about the functions and operation of our government.
  • Community: Volunteers gain knowledge of local resources available to solve community needs.
#1: You get a chance to give back.
  • People like to support community resources that they use themselves or that benefit people they care about.
I’ll leave you with a powerful quote that touches on service to humanity. “We are prone to judge success by the index of our salaries or the size of our automobiles, rather than by the quality of our service relationship to humanity.” -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Thank you!

Hello June!! Time for summer to kick off!!! It's a busy season for us Jaycees... I'm ready when you are! Currently on the table still looking for that one person who would like to join us on The ID Team on the board. We have been making it work with me and Mari, but a third is also nice. Talk to President Nick if interested.

We're taking a month off from Dining Club, the next one will be slated for July.

Now I know I had said that I had an appetizer contest slated for June chapter meeting, but after a long thought I realized that doing it at the chapter picnic/meeting in July is a lot easier to plan for! I will have sign-up sheets going around at board meeting and chapter meeting. Let's get a great turnout! There will be gift cards given out to the winners.

See ya guys soon,
Eric Leuck

Jaycees Camping Trip • June 24-25

We are having our annual Jaycee camping trip June 24-25. This trip is like a social night but instead of just one evening it is a whole weekend. There is still some spots available, but limited amount of sign up spaces and car car space that can give you a chance to get to know your fellow Jaycees or friends. All you need is a tent, a car or ride, and whatever else you want. Contact Travis Klingbeil at 920-287-6151 if you have any questions or if you want to sign-up!

Participation Incentives

Did you know that every time you run a project, attend a meeting, or participate in our events that you are working your way towards the chance to win fabulous prizes? Throughout the year we're tracking the participation of all chapter members so that at our banquet in January we convert the points into tickets that can be used to enter into drawings for tons of awesome prizes. We've had prizes such as Coach purses, power tools, tablets, gift cards, gift baskets, and much more. So be sure to sign-in at every meeting or event in order to earn as many points as possible. Click HERE to view the point values.

Anyone interested in learning more or setting up their passport to civil leadership? Please let me know if that is something you would like to do!

I would like to give a big welcome to our new members for May: Karina Arciniega, Shaun Bitney, and Becky Bradl. Both Shaun and Becky are familiar faces. Shaun volunteers with the DOT project, and Becky has volunteered with several of our projects as she is a member of JCI Manitowoc as well, not to mention she was WI state president last year. Please introduce yourself when you see them around.

We will be having an open house prior to the family picnic at our chapter meeting on July 7 at Roosevelt Park. Please invite anyone who might be interested in learning more about the Jaycees, or just wants to check us out.
