Greetings All!

So this is it. The rewards from all the planning and hard work the Brat Days committee has done to prepare for one of the area’s best festivals… um, actually… THE BEST festival in the area, are about to be realized. Brat Days is ready to rock! Next up is to set up the grounds the week of July 28. If you can help any of the days 7/28, 7/29, and 7/30, please stop by anytime during the day to lend a hand. I greatly appreciate any amount of time you can dedicate to building the event on the grounds. The more hands on deck, the easier and quicker setup will go. Please also be ready to help with event operations as Brat Days gets underway. If you aren’t already stand chairing a ticket stand, food area, or beverage stand, there are other ways to help with operations. Just contact our manpower team and they will be happy to find a place for you of which you can be a part of the joy of making Brat Days the best it can be. Be sure to tell your friends, family, coworkers, anyone at all to come on down to the grounds and party down with us! The ultimate purpose of Brat Days is to raise funds to give back to the community, so the more people that come out the more we can give back.
I would like to express my sincerest and utmost thanks to this year’s committee. These folks put in MANY hours of solid hard work to make Brat Days happen. You are all champions for stepping up to do what it takes to organize such a large event. You should all be very proud of yourselves and all of what you’ve done. Rest assured we will have plenty of opportunities to celebrate our dedication and successes with free pizza dinner after cleanup on Sunday (only for those who show up to help!), lunch at Highland House the following Monday, and of course the Bust Up Party. Until those times come, let’s all come together to make Brat Days undeniably awesome!
It’s been a real honor and a sincere pleasure for me to have served as this year’s chairman. I couldn’t have asked for a better crew to work with.

Hooray for Brats!

Brat Days Bust-Up Party • August 16

Join us for the Brat Days bust-up party on Saturday, August 16. This fun shindig will take place at Fireman's park in Elkhart Lake from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. For participants who wish to carpool, a school bus will pick up participants in the Memorial Mall parking lot (between Sears and Firestone) at 12:30pm and will leave Elkhart Lake at 4:45pm to return to Sheboygan.

Park admission will be covered by the bust-up party and the pavilion will be rented for our use. This gathering will focus on socializing, games, and catching some sun at the beach. Light snacks of hot dogs, chips, and fruit salad will be provided along with beverages of water, soda, and beer. The games will entail sand volleyball (there is a court at the park), ladder golf, washer toss, and bean bags. Please note - if you wish to bring beverages for yourself, the park doesn't allow glass containers.

Sheboygan Jaycees, your significant other, and Roosters who have put forth effort to make Brat Days a success are invited to this event. To attend this gathering, you should SIGN UP!  A sign-up sheet will be passed around at the chapter meeting on July 30th. Another way to get on the list is to email Paul Rammer at svrammer@gmail.com.

Hello DOTers!

With a successful Brat Days soon to be down in the books, it's time to focus on our Chapter's next big project! And boy, could we use your help finishing the DOT for the 2014 season.. we will be open in only little over 2 months. WOW! Time flies!

This means several things:
  1. Less than 70 days from now Dominion of Terror Haunted House will be open for business. That may seem like a lot of days, but it's coming sooner than you think. There is spectacular progress down at the house already, BUT we could use some extra hands to paint, haul, and staple. Can you manage a couple hours? We are open Monday thru Thursday at 6pm and after Brat Days - Saturdays as well at 12pm. An hour or two will make a huge difference in a Room Builder's life and make these chairmen smile :)
  2. We are having BIG 'OL Work Weekend Saturday, August 16th at 3pm and Sunday, August 17th at 12pm. Not only will you get double DOT Hours counted, but ID Team has graciously allowed you DOUBLE Jaycee Incentive points for that day too! That's a CRAZY DEAL and something you should not miss.
  3. Monster Training 101 - interested in acting? or do you just want to watch a hilarious training video? Jodie Zajkowski put together a brand-new training session. It's mandatory for anyone wanting to act, but all are welcome to check out the NEW video. August 21st at 6pm and August 23rd at 1pm at the DOT.

BUT WAIT! There's more!

To keep up-to-date of the happenings down at the house, check out the Wiki site and the Facebook Volunteer Page - both of which include a calendar of events, important documents, and other sweet info.

Important Dates!
  • Next Meeting: August 14th @ 6:30pm at DOT
  • PARADES - Brat Days Parade - August 2nd, Kiel Parade - August 9th
  • Plymouth Rock Haunted Trail - Augsust 23rd - Come get a scaring taste!
  • Big Construction Days: July 26, August 16/17, and September 20-21
If you are interested in anything at all – please don’t hesitate to call/text/email us!

Participation Incentives

Did you know that every time you run a project, attend a meeting, or participate in our events that you are working your way towards the chance to win fabulous prizes? Throughout the year Ashley Yurk is tracking the participation of all chapter members so that at our banquet in January we convert the points into tickets that can be used to enter into drawings for tons of awesome prizes. We've had prizes such as Coach purses, power tools, tablets, gift cards, gift baskets, and much more. So be sure to sign-in at every meeting or event in order to earn as many points as possible. Hello My Fellow Do-Gooders!

Mental Health America Walk - August 16
As some of you know, the DOT donated $2500 to the Mental Health America from last year's profits. As a cause near and dear to us, there will be a group of us walking in their 9th Annual "There is Hope" Walk on Saturday, August 16. It is $20 to register by August 8. If you are interested in joining us or if you would like to help sponsor our group, please let Jenna Van Der Sande know and she'll give you information.
Yes it's back again!! After a brief hiatus, lets MAKE IT RAIN or even HAIL for a good cause!! For September's meeting, please bring either your dolla dolla bills ya'll or...... SCHOOL SUPPLIES. Please pick up folders, pencils, crayons, etc and bring your purchases to our September 4 chapter meeting. They will then be donated to local schools for kids in need.

Since we're on a cleaning kick - A DAY HAS BEEN CHOSEN!! Sunday, August 24 to go walk the Jaycees' adopted road and pick up trash and hopefully other interesting items. We promise the same fun of getting some sun while doing some good. We will be starting at 2pm, meeting at the La Quinta Inn parking lot (next to Luigi's) on Wilgus Ave. Remember... service to humanity is the BEST WORK OF LIFE... so let's donate what time we got - to better not only our lives, but the community at large. Hope to see ya there!
