A huge thanks to all Jaycees, volunteers, and sponsors who made Brat Days possible! Many months of planning culminated into an awesome event and a great project for the Jaycees that provides development opportunities for young active citizens to give back to the community, develop their leadership skills, and build great friendships in the process! Through some of the challenges that we faced in putting on this event we learned that things don't always go as planned, but that provides important life lessons because you have to be able to think on your feet, make decisions, and delegate tasks. These are the things that we all can gain from being a part of the Jaycees. You'll take these skills with you throughout many aspects of life. No matter what adversity you may face in the future you will always have the background of experience that may have pushed you a bit out of your comfort zone but it ultimately made you a stronger and more well-rounded person.

And now our chapter will continue this momentum into the fall at the Dominion of Terror! October is just around the corner, but we need your support now! Come help with construction during September and get a behind-the-scenes look at all the great work that's going on. Be sure to check out the DOT article in this newsletter for all the latest info and important dates. This year is the 40th anniversary, so join us in being a part of making it a huge success!

Congratulations to Brian Gensch and our chapter for running another successful Brat Days! It always amazes me how a small group of dedicated people can put on such a large event that benefits so many, and am proud of my service as all committee members and volunteers should be. I can’t wait for Brat Days 2015!
Speaking of which, the submission deadline for Brat Days 2015 chairman is October 15, 2014. If you'd like to be in the running for being the next Brat Days chairperson, please submit a letter of intent. The letter should include your name, contact info, length of time in the Jaycees, why you would like to chair Brat Days, your qualifications to be chairperson, and any ideas you have to enhance or improve the event if you are selected. Please email it to Tim Harrison then the Foundation Board will meet soon thereafter. Contact any Foundation Board members if you have any questions.

On your marks, get set, GLO!  •  Friday, September 12

It is time for the 2nd Annual 5K Glo Run. We are all very excited for the second year of this fun, new event! Since this is still a new event and we are still getting the word out, we would love for you to share this event with your friends and family. Registration is still open and we also have onsite registration the day of the event. It is a fun run and isn't timed and can be walked or run, so everyone is welcome and it's great for families.

We also are looking for volunteers to help with the event. There are still spots to help out with at the water station or on the course to make sure everything and everyone are ok. If you can't make it at night but have the day free, we would really love help setting up the park and will be down there at to start.

If you have any questions about this event at all, please contact me. Thanks!

Hello DOTers!

In less than 30 days the DOT will be open for its 40th season. And we are in the home stretch!! And we cannot wait to see the final product! We could use some extra hands to paint, haul, and staple. Can you manage a couple hours? We are open Monday thru Thursday at 6pm and Saturdays as well at 12pm. An hour or two will make a huge difference in a Room Builder's life and make these chairmen smile :)
  1. We are having TWO!! yes TWO BIG 'OL Work Weekends - Saturday, September 6th and Sunday, September 7th at 12pm AND Saturday, September 20th and Sunday, September 21st at 12pm. Not only will you get double DOT Hours counted, but ID Team has graciously allowed you DOUBLE Jaycee Incentive points for that day too! That's a CRAZY DEAL and something you should not miss. And for Sept 6-7 it's even more exciting because Jodie Z has planned a Friends/Family day complete with lots of food, soda and....wait for it.. a KEG of adult beverage. You won't want to miss this work weekend!
  2. Please sign up to volunteer in October. There is plenty to do besides acting. We need ticket sellers, takers, crows (watch rooms), concessions and much much more! Should come to our meeting on the 11th to find out more. Plus we give you free food and beer (after we're closed) every night - AND after 3 nights you get a t-shirt!
  3. Monster Training 101 - interested in acting? or do you just want to watch a hilarious training video? Jodie Zajkowski put together a brand-new training session. It's mandatory for anyone wanting to act, but all are welcome to check out the NEW video. September 13th at 1pm and September 18th at 6pm at the DOT.

Join us for a tasty beverage at this cool local pub with an atmosphere inspired by New Zealand. This is an open event, all Jaycees and friends are welcome.

Participation Incentives

Did you know that every time you run a project, attend a meeting, or participate in our events that you are working your way towards the chance to win fabulous prizes? Throughout the year Ashley Yurk is tracking the participation of all chapter members so that at our banquet in January we convert the points into tickets that can be used to enter into drawings for tons of awesome prizes. We've had prizes such as Coach purses, power tools, tablets, gift cards, gift baskets, and much more. So be sure to sign-in at every meeting or event in order to earn as many points as possible. Click HERE to view the current incentive tracking spreadsheet.

Hello My Fellow Do-Gooders!

Yes it's back again!! Lets MAKE IT RAIN or even HAIL for a good cause!! For September's meeting, please bring either your dolla dolla bills ya'll or...... SCHOOL SUPPLIES. Please pick up folders, pencils, crayons, etc and bring them to our September 4th chapter meeting... They will then be donated to local schools for kids in need.
On October 25th our Haunted House (DOT) is hosting a Children's Matinee. This is a lights on trick-or-treat through the haunted house. Each room they pass through gets a piece of candy. DOT could use your donation of bags of wrapped candy to help offset costs. If you could please bring in wrapped candy, it would be fantastic!

As previously mentioned on October 25th the DOT is hosting 500+ children to come thru the house. There are two parts - Matinee: which is the trick-or-treat. Much with Monster: like Lunch With Bunny, it is when children are able to do crafts, play games, and decorate cupcakes. They are needing for Jaycee help on that day. Setup starts at 12:00 and the event is 2:00-4:00 and clean-up is right after. In search of a ticket seller, ticket taker, and people to help with crafts. If you are interested please talk to Jenna Van Der Sande or Nina Pfeifer

Big thank you to Nina Pfeifer, Sarah Schwefel, Nick Schmitz, and Matt with the Hat for helping with picking up our stretch of road in between the clinic and movie theater. HUGE thank you to Laura Rammer for knowing where we were responsible for and for taking the bag of trash. :)

Remember... service to humanity is the BEST WORK OF LIFE... so let's donate what time we got - to better not only our lives, but the community at large.
