Hello Jaycees,

Brat Days went great! Of course we all knew it would since Becky Mullane was running the show but still what a feeling to know that we put on another fantastic event. It was great to see us Jaycees out there in full force selling tickets, pouring drinks, or deep frying some corn brats. We were well staffed with volunteers (Thanks Jenna!) which made things a heck of a lot less stressful. The music was awesome, Steve Hagen played the cowbell on stage of course, and even tho it rained a little we just kept on going. A big thank you to all those who took time out of their busy lives to help us out during the week and weekend, and a huge thank you to the Brat Days Committee who worked on this event basically the whole year!

So our biggest event is done. What’s next? DOT. It’s now time to focus our efforts on The Dominion of Terror. There’s plenty to be done on our haunted house. Matter of fact we’re behind and could use your help. So if you’re a fan of horror flicks, enjoy construction, or have a creative side come on down and help us make this next huge event another success.

Well guys with our elections happening I realize that my term as President has just a few months left. You may recall my optimism and eagerness to learn when I first took this post. I can assure you I have learned plenty. Career skills, interpersonal skills, sweet nun-chuck skills, and just life skills in general. I sure do wish I had this knowledge when I first started my term but hey, you gotta learn by doing (I’m pretty sure I didn’t have a gray hair when I started also).

Thanks all!
Nick Schmitz

Hello Brat Day Enthusiasts!

Just a reminder to everyone that the letter of intent for the 2017 Brat Days Chair is due Sunday, September 18th by midnight that night. It takes nearly a year of planning and strategizing to put on Brat Days. It also takes a fearless leader -- like Becky this last year -- and a dedicated committee -- like the 2016 committee -- to pull it off. Having said that, we need to decide on a Chair sooner rather than later to get the ball rolling. A Foundation meeting will follow in the week(s) after the deadline to determine the chair so he/she can draft a budget and get 2017 planning started!

Please send your letter of intent to run Brat Days to me at jackie77q@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from our future Chair possibilities!

Dominion of Terror

Hello everyone!

In less than 35 days the DOT will be open for its 42nd season. And we are in the home stretch!! And we cannot wait to see the final product! We could use some extra hands to paint, haul, and staple. Can you manage a couple hours? We are open Monday thru Friday at 6pm and Saturdays as well at 12pm. An hour or two will make a huge difference in a Room Builder's life!

Please sign up to volunteer in October. There is plenty to do besides acting. We need ticket sellers, takers, crows (watch rooms), and much much more! Should come to the meeting on the 7th to find out more. Plus we give you free food and beer (after we're closed) every night - AND after 3 nights you get a t-shirt.

Important Dates!
  • Next Meeting: September 7th @ 6:30pm at DOT
  • Big Construction Days: September 9,17,18 (meant for big groups of people to come down and work together to get a bunch done)
  • Days we are open September 30, October 1,7,8,14,15,20,21,22,27,28,29,30,31

As fall approaches, we look back at what an eventful summer we've had! We had a great number of Dining Clubs including the one at Jakum's Hall August 24th. Great turnout everyone had a blast! Boy If we could have Dining Clubs/Game Night Socials like that every month! But we are gonna continue to end this year strong and we will resume Dining Club in November at Sprecher's, details will come when it is closer. Thank you to all that have supported ID throughout this year. Hope to see you all at the next chapter meeting and events coming up as we creep closer to October! :)

Participation Incentives

Did you know that every time you run a project, attend a meeting, or participate in our events that you are working your way towards the chance to win fabulous prizes? Throughout the year we're tracking the participation of all chapter members so that at our banquet in January we convert the points into tickets that can be used to enter into drawings for tons of awesome prizes. We've had prizes such as Coach purses, power tools, tablets, gift cards, gift baskets, and much more. So be sure to sign-in at every meeting or event in order to earn as many points as possible. Click HERE to view the point values.

Happy September! We had a great weekend for Brat Days this year. Many people that showed interested in the Jaycees. We had 5 people sworn in that weekend alone. That’s amazing! As we amp up for the Dominion of Terror, I hope we can keep that motivation going on through October. Please see any one of us in membership if you have someone who is interested in learning more about what we are all about. The deadline for quarter 3 dues is August 31 so if you still haven’t paid, we will be reaching out via phone. It’s hard to believe we are coming up fast into the 4th quarter.
