Hello fellow Jaycees!

Our biggest events, Brat Days and DOT, are coming up quick! This is normally the time of the year where most of us Jaycees are scrambling around trying to get everything done at once. Been there. I just want to take a moment to remind folks to stop a second, take a deep breath, and think about your next step. What’s next on the list or what’s a priority? One thing at a time.

For everyone else I encourage you to take a good look when our sign-up sheets come around. Personally I have my phone’s calendar up when a sign-up sheet is going around to make sure I can commit 100%. We need you to help us out. This is our time to come together as The Sheboygan Jaycees and get stuff done.

Every year for Brat Days we like to walk local parades to get the word out to folks that Brat Days is coming up. We hand out flyers and can koozies while taking a good stroll down the city. On a sunny day most of you will tan, I will not! Haha you’re probably wondering where I’m going with this, well point is we have a good time, and you should be there to help us represent. We’ve got quite a few parades this year that we could use more people in, so hey if you’re free why not walk with us? As an added bonus if you’re a member, rooster, or x-chair in good standing and you walk in a parade with us you’ll get a 2016 Brat Days t-shirt before anyone else. Pretty sweet huh!

This is our time to shine everyone. All eyes are on us during this events. Let’s make them great!

As always Thank You,
Nick Schmitz

Brat Days • August 4-6

The Brats are Coming, The BRATS are Coming, The BRATS are COMING, THE BRATS ARE COMING!!!

Can you smell them? I can, and they smell delicious! But guess what?!? I need you, yes YOU, to come on down to Brat Days to help serve them, the beverages that go with them, the tickets to buy them, and so on!

Brat Days is an extraordinary event in my opinion. Live music, great food, cold beer, and all proceeds go back to our community. Technically, that is how I was introduced to the Sheboygan Jaycees. I had just moved to Sheboygan and some out of town friends were coming to Sheboygan and going to Brat Days. Would I like to join them? My husband was working construction at the time (weekends included), so I decided to join them. That year they were giving out Corporate Tent passes (formerly known as the VIP tent) to folks staying at Fountain Park Hotel. My friends were so they invited me to join them for dinner, and that is how I was introduced to the Jaycees! Tracy Schultz was working the VIP tent and welcomed me to the Chapter meeting in September where I immediately joined and the rest is history.

I believe many of us have our own Brat Days stories - the good and the ugly! I welcome you to come on down this year to share those stories over a beverage of your choice. If you come on down and volunteer, I will buy you your first beer as soon as you are done with your shift! That invitation is extended to current members, roosters, and past chairmen! Please contact Jenna in Manpower at volunteer@brat-days.com to let her know you are willing to come down and volunteer!

As we enter our final month of preparation, it is time to really promote Brat Days to the public. We really do have something for everyone - live music, great food, a family friendly 4-mile run/walk, parade, brat and cake eating contests, a chain saw sculptor, Marketplace, Brat-Tastic vendors, and more!!!! Share our website and Facebook postings with your friends and family!

Our final meeting will be held on Thursday, July 14th at 7PM at Holiday's Pub & Grill!

Looking forward to great brats and music!!!
