Hello Jaycees,

We’ve had a great start to our 2016. We helped out our friends, the Rotary Club, take down their “Making Spirits Bright” equipment at Evergreen Park and we’ve had plenty of brainstorming sessions figuring out new ideas for our chapter to meet our goals for this year.

One of the goals that we’ve been working on is getting the word out to the public that the Sheboygan Jaycees do a lot more good in the community than most know. Did you know that last year alone we raised and then gave over $34,000 back to the community in the form of Food Banks, Scholarships, or large donations to Project Angel Hugs and Big Brothers Big sisters? On top of that we raised that money with fun events like Brat Days or Dominion of Terror. Events that gave Sheboygan residents a chance to see a good 80’s rock concert or enjoy a fun scare. Best of all these events are run and organized by us, Jaycees, young people who are learning life and job skills. We are bettering ourselves and the community. We make a difference and we’re looking at new ways to become even better at it.

Be sure to take a look at our upcoming events below. I hope you have a great February and make sure to spoil your valentine!

Sincerely,
Nick Schmitz

Brat Days • August 4-6

Did you know that some employers will provide paid time off for community volunteer work? Ask your employer if they offer this benefit. If so, use that opportunity to come on down and help set-up Brat Days – Monday, August 1 until we open on Thursday, August 4th. Even one 8 hour shift during the week is a big help to get Brat Days in order. Plus, we will provide free lunch!!!

Planning is moving smoothly along for Brat Days 2016. Gator Pro has agreed to organize our entertainment this year as an in-kind donation! How awesome is that!?! Also, Jill Sonntag has stepped up and agreed to work the Fieldhouse all weekend for us!

One final area that is still in need of a strong team is Main Food! This is such an important area of the event. It is so important to have our own Sheboygan Jaycees leading this area and ensuring folks purchasing food from our event are provided the best service and product possible! If you are interested, please let me know. This would be a great area for a small team of folks to lead.

Interested in joining the Brat Days Committee fun? Come join us! Our next meeting is Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 7PM at Weimann’s Sports Center. I promise to bring you a Valentine’s Day chocolate if you do!

Looking forward to a fantastic Brat Days in 2016!

Hello welcome to February everyone!! Got some very cool events coming up hope to see you all soon! This month we want to see if anyone is interested in learning anything about The Jaycees such as How to run a project, or financial planning...etc. Let us know if you are interested and we'll come up with a discussion before a chapter meeting.

CPR Training • At the QVC prior to the Chapter Meeting • Thursday, February 4 @ 6pm

Would you know what to do if you faced a medical emergency? Every year nearly 383,00 out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrests occur in the United States. Less than 8% survive. The American Heart Association states that if effective bystander CPR is administered immediately after sudden cardiac arrest, then the victim's chance of survival can be doubled or even tripled. At this training you will learn how to perform CPR on SimMan.

Those who have signed-up will be getting a reminder this week. If you haven't signed up yet but would like to attend, you must call or text Sarah Schwefel at 920-946-8633 by 5pm on February 2 to ensure there is enough training equipment for everyone.

Dining Club • Holiday's Pub & Grill • Wednesday, February 17th @ 6pm

A sign-up sheet will be at the chapter meeting and you can RSVP on Facebook! Meal costs are on an individual basis. Hope to see a bunch of you there!

Snowtubing at Sunburst • Sunday, March 6 • 11am-1pm

This is a fun event for people of all ages, so be sure to invite your friends and family. We'll meet at the Quarryview Center around 10am so we can carpool. Payments will be made the day of the event.

Participation Incentives

Did you know that every time you run a project, attend a meeting, or participate in our events that you are working your way towards the chance to win fabulous prizes? Throughout the year we're tracking the participation of all chapter members so that at our banquet in January we convert the points into tickets that can be used to enter into drawings for tons of awesome prizes. We've had prizes such as Coach purses, power tools, tablets, gift cards, gift baskets, and much more. So be sure to sign-in at every meeting or event in order to earn as many points as possible. Click HERE to view the current incentive tracking spreadsheet.
