Greetings Chapter!
Well folks, I got some big news. I have officially been named the Brat Days Chairperson for 2014! I can’t wait to get started on the organizing and planning for next year. You know, I even have an idea for an “addition” to the staff t-shirts, but anyway… I very much look forward to taking on this venture. It’s a big job with big shoes to fill, but you know what? We all ultimately contribute to the success of Brat Days. We all came together to make Brat Days a smash hit this year, and I am confident we will do the same for 2014. If you are not currently on the Brat Days committee, I highly encourage you to join us! Like all of our major projects, being on the Brat Days committee is a highly rewarding experience. It’s a great opportunity for you to contribute your already existing talents to or develop new skills for a functional area such as Entertainment, Advertising, Manpower, Purchasing, Administration, and Grounds. These are just a few of the areas you can join in on. Let me know if you are interested in being on the committee!
There is one bit of information I want to share with you – why it is I decided to go for being Brat Days chair. It’s because you all encouraged and inspired me to. If you remember WAY back to my speech at this year’s Installation Banquet, I mentioned that I accepted the President position because you all stood behind me and encouraged me to go for it. Me accepting the role as Brat Days chairman is yet another showing of just how much we care about building each other up. I sincerely cherish that quality of ours. Not only is this quality evident with how my path in our Chapter has developed, but I have also observed the encouragement given by members to members, expressing confidence in someone’s ability to chair an event. It brings me great joy to see that. If you think someone would be great for chairing any one of our standard events, by golly tell them so! You will make that person’s day and you can bask in the joy of knowing you helped to build someone up.
Hey, let’s hear it for Jenna Fanslau and everyone involved for putting on a holy wow out of this world show at Dominion of Terror! Way to go! I am so very proud of Jenna and everyone involved for taking the leap to give a shot at a morbid fairy tale theme for this year’s show. It was a smash hit! My sincerest thanks to everyone who helped with the DOT. Your participation means a lot to Jenna, a lot to me, and a lot to the Chapter. This is certainly one of our Chapter’s largest projects and it’s successful every year because of your unwavering support!
Someone else that I’d like to acknowledge for a job very well done – Paul Rammer for organizing the Punt Pass Kick sectional competition! I was there to help. As a result, I observed how Paul took what started as a substantially chaotic scene and in great confidence calmed the waters and got the event rolling. It was a sight to behold. Thanks to everyone who was able to be there to help Paul make order from chaos. Paul did a fabulous job of managing the event and it was ultimately a success. Let’s hear it for Paul!
See you at the Chapter meeting!

Well it's November and I am blown away how fast the DOT year has gone. Seems like just yesterday I was submitting my letter of intent to chair the house for the 2013 season. I guess it's true when they say "time flies when you're having fun" because I cannot believe it's over already. I had such a great time chairing this project; I honestly can't wait to do it again. Yup, Jim, I said it. I learned so much and gained so much confidence in myself and made so many new friends because of this project, and I am thankful. I want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to all of my committee and my room builders for supporting me and the themed house. I appreciate you more than you know. And also of course a HUGE thank you to all who volunteered at the house all summer long and during October. We could not have been as successful as we were if it wasn’t for all of you. I am humbled at the outpouring of support and grateful to have been able to chair this project and don’t regret a thing.
So congratulations to all of our AWESOME DOT volunteers... we were successful all because of you. Thank you.

Hello Sheboygan Jaycees!

Most of this year’s activities and events are behind us! Let’s have some fun, finish out the year with a blast, and take some time to enjoy our successes of 2013. Join the ID team for a day trip to Light Speed Go Karts and Laser Tag! This all-indoor facility in Milwaukee has a large track for electric go-karts which can go up to 45 mph. The facility also has a 4,500 square foot laser tag arena to work on your skills and have some fun. This trip is open to everyone!
Rates and packages are flexible and vary based on the number of races and/or laser tag matches you’d like to do. The most popular package, which last for about 90 minutes, is two large laser tag matches and two go-kart races for $28.

We will be carpooling from Sheboygan at 2 pm on Saturday, November 23. Afterwards, we’ll have dinner and drinks in Milwaukee at location(s) determined by the trip participants. If you’d like to sign up, please email Jan (madeincz@gmail.com) on or before November 21. For more info, check out www.lightspeedrocks.com

Join us for a combined Happy Hour and Dining Club at Urbane (1231 N 8th Street) on Wednesday, November 13, starting at 5:30 pm, dinner at 7 pm. For more information, check out: facebook.com/pages/Urbane/126668474077912

The chili cook-off contest was originally planned for the November chapter meeting but has been rescheduled for the December chapter meeting. Jim Fanslau is the chairperson for this contest. Additional information about the contest will be sent out prior to the December chapter meeting.

As the year winds down to a close, remember that every meeting, event, and activity you’ve attended and helped out with this year goes toward the 2013 Participation Program. You’ll have a chance to exchange the participation points you’ve accumulated throughout the year for raffle prizes at the Installation Banquet in January.  We have some great prizes lined up!  If you’d like to check out where you are at in the program, check out the spreadsheet on the wiki: sheboyganjaycees.com/MemberDirectory

Membership Referral Program

We need each and every one of our members to help promote and grow the Jaycees. As an added incentive we are offering a membership referral program that is easy and rewarding. YOU GET $20 in Chamber Cash when your friend joins and lists you as the person who referred them on their application. It’s as simple as that! So what are you waiting for? Bring your friends to our next event! (This program is available only to members in good standing)

What is Installation Banquet and why should you go?

Each January we have a formal banquet to thank the officers and members from the previous year and then introduce the officers for the new year. During the banquet we also "roast out" members who are 40 or 41. Statesman and Senator awards are presented as well. This banquet is a fun celebration for all members of the chapter and guests. As mentioned in this month's Individual Development article, every meeting, event, and activity you’ve attended and helped out with this year goes toward the 2013 Participation Program. You’ll have a chance to exchange the participation points you’ve accumulated throughout the year for awesome prizes at the banquet.

Save the date for Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Pine Hills Country Club!
