Greetings Chapter!

Well, yet another month of fabulous Jaycees events goes by.  First, let’s hear it for Eric Leuck for chairing his very first Chapter event, the annual family picnic! Way to go Eric! It was a blast for all who came to enjoy the food, beverages, and fun before getting down to business with the Chapter meeting. Thanks to all others who helped organize and get the picnic underway. Those such individuals were Tom Badtke, Amanda Kohls, Kyle Aguirre, and Paul Rammer. Your help was much appreciated! Plus, a big thanks goes out to Elizabeth Sullivan for organizing the appetizer contest. Congratulations as well to the contest winner, Julie Turner!

Another event that absolutely rocked was the July 4 Beer Tent, chaired by yours truly and Amanda Kohls. It was an incredible success! How so? Well, we just about depleted our beer supply, we sold out of three of the soda varieties, our supply of pitchers was fully depleted an hour before operations ceased, and we were down to half a box of cups by the end of the night. What that translates to is $7,700 cash in the bank, and after expenses, our profit was $2,900 for the Chapter! Thank you so very much to everyone who helped take on a shift to sell beverages on that day. Your efforts that day are most appreciated and just look what our teamwork helped accomplish. I’d like to give a special shout out to those who decided to stick around for just about the ENTIRE DAY – Steve Hagen, Greg Whitson, and Kate Whitson. Everyone who had a hand in the success of this event whether as an organizer or as a volunteer, YOU ALL ROCK LIKE FENDER GUITARS!!!

Next, it’s time to strap on the lederhosen and get ready for Brat Days! Let’s all show Tim Harrison and the Brat Days committee our support by helping to make this year’s Brat Days a great success. There are many way cool changes and additions that have been made. Don’t miss out on any of it! Be sure to contact Jan Skala, Mychal Seger, Megan Ohland, or even Tim Harrison to find out how you can help by way of volunteering for a responsibility. Helping with Brat Days is always a hoot, so be sure you come on down to assist!

You know what else is coming up soon? September Board elections! We will be electing the 2014 Board at the September 3rd Chapter meeting. If you are interested in being placed on the ballot for taking on a position for the 2014 Board, please let me know at the latest by Monday, August 19th. Two positions we are especially looking to fill for next year are President and Treasurer. There are position descriptions available on the wiki site for these two positions as well as other board position descriptions (link: http://www.sheboyganjaycees.com/Board+Information). If you are interested in either of these two positions or any positions, I’d sure love to hear from you! For any open positions that don’t have at least one person on the ballot, we will take nominations from the floor at the Chapter meeting. If you don’t want to potentially miss out by waiting to see if you would be nominated from the floor (by either self-nomination or by being nominated by a fellow member), then certainly do let me know if you’d like to be on the ballot by August 19. Please also feel free to contact me if you have questions about being a Board member.

Thank you everyone for helping to make all of what we’ve done so far this year such a great success. Keep up the good work and remember to have yourself some fun with all of what we are doing!

Hello all!

With a successful Brat Days soon to be down in the books, it's time to focus on our Chapter's next big project! And boy, could we use your help finishing the DOT for the 2013 season.. we will be open in only little over 2 months. WOW! Time flies!

This means several things:

1) 65 days from today (July 31) is when the Dominion of Terror Haunted House will be open for business. That may seem like a lot of days, but it's coming sooner than you think. There is spectacular progress down at the house already, BUT we could use some extra hands to paint, haul, and staple. Can you manage a couple hours? We are open Monday thru Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Weeknights at 6 and weekends at 12. An hour or two will make a huge difference in a Room Builder's life :)

2) ZOMBIE WALK - be prepared for Sheboygan to be invaded once again.. it will be on September 7th. Come support your fellow Jaycees and zombies walking around town. Promise not to bite ya!

3) Monster Training 101 - interested in acting? or do you just want to watch a hilarious training video? Jodie Zajkowski put together a brand-new training session. It's mandatory for anyone wanting to act, but all are welcome to check out the NEW video. August 10th at 1pm and August 15th at 6:30pm at the DOT.

BUT WAIT! There's more!

We are having a BIG 'OL Work Day Saturday, August 17th starting at noon. Not only will you get time and a half DOT Hours counted, but Jan has graciously allowed you DOUBLE Jaycee Incentive points for that day too! That's a CRAZY DEAL and something you should not miss.

If you have any questions about the house, please call/text/facebook/cyberstalk me... I will gladly talk it out with you!

Hello Sheboygan Jaycees!
Summer is in full swing, and our chapter is hard at work to make upcoming events a success.  Brat Days, the Glo Run, Dominion of Terror, and others.  Some of our biggest projects are coming up fast!

Why not take some time off, relax, and have fun with the ID Team?  Mark your calendars for a day of adventure up in northern Wisconsin!  On Saturday, August 24th, we will be organizing a day trip to Wildman Adventure Resort in Niagara, WI.  We will arrive at the resort at approximately 1:30 p.m., and from there you can take part in whichever activity you’d like to do.  There are many to choose from!

- Whitewater Rafting.  Hop into a 10-person whitewater raft and experience some of the Midwest’s biggest (class IV) rapids.  Every raft is staffed by an experienced guide.  All equipment is also provided.  First time rafting?  Not to worry, this trip is for all experience levels, as long as you are willing to get wet!

- Zipline Canopy Tour.  Rafting not your thing?  How about some real speed?  Sign up for the zipline excursion and see the northern WI scenery from above.  Over 1900 of steel cable will help you see it all in a flash.  All equipment provided.

- Paintball.  A classic for anyone who wants to try out their aim and team tactics.  The course instructors will guide you through several game types and scenarios.  Want to shoot the chapter president in the face?  Now’s your chance!  Paintball gun, paintballs, mask and chest protector are all provided.

- Rock Climbing.  There’s nothing quite like conquering the elements (and maybe a fear of heights) on this excursion.  Your trip will be led by experienced climbing instructors as you scale up several rock formations.  All equipment provided.

Not quite sure if you’d be interested in any of these activities?  Check out the short videos on the pages above to get a good sense of what each of the excursions is all about.  Wildman Resorts is a renowned excursion resort with great equipment and well-trained staff members.

Please note that you must sign up for the excursion you’d like to do yourself, we will not be making a group booking.  On the  Wildman website (http://www.wildmanranch.com/adventures-Menominee.php):
- Select the excursion you’d like
- Hit the Book Now Button
- Select Saturday August 24th
- Select the afternoon excursion for that day (approximate times are 2pm – 6pm)
- Select the number of people you are reserving for, and complete the checkout

We will be carpooling from Sheboygan (leaving at 10 a.m.) up to the resort, and then driving back after excursions are finished.  Anticipated return time is 10 p.m. on Saturday at the latest.  Please bring appropriate clothing for your activity (and maybe spare clothes as well), as well as money for lunch, dinner, and gas for the drivers (approximately $40).

This event is open to friends and family members!

Again, please remember that if you are interested in coming on the adventure trip, you must book your own reservation through the Wildman website.  Please do so as soon as possible so that your spot is reserved.

If you have any questions about the trip, please contact us.  We hope to see you all there!

Brat Days is a great time to introduce your friends, family, and co-workers to awesomeness that is the SHEBOYGAN JAYCEES! This is one of our biggest events of the year and it is often the time where we gain the most new members. Our chapter is full of enthusiastic people who are developing and expanding their personal and professional skill set through project management, teamwork, and leadership all while giving back to the community. When you're having a great time as a Jaycee, share that with others! We all learn from each other and the bigger our family is the better!

At the chapter meeting we'll be handing out lovely "Ask me how to join" buttons as pictured to the right. These are to be worn of course during Brat Days, but also continue to wear them throughout the year. Member recruitment can happen anytime, anywhere!

Invite your friends, family members, and coworkers to the upcoming chapter meeting by sending them the following link: facebook.com/events/134043380138651
Attend the New Member Orientation presented via webinar
by a JCI Trainer on August 28 at 9:00pm Central. For more info and to sign up: www3.gotomeeting.com/register/469851862
Membership Referral Program

We need each and every one of our members to help promote and grow the Jaycees. As an added incentive we are offering a membership referral program that is easy and rewarding.

in Chamber Cash when your friend joins and lists you as the person who referred them on their application. It’s as simple as that! So what are you waiting for? Bring your friends to our next event!
