STATEMENTS FROM PRESIDENT DR DANNY LAMM
Last week Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in Washington DC speaking to 16 000 delegates at the AIPAC Conference. There was also his speech to the US Joint Congress, controversial in the lead up and commended in the content. Read what our own President, Dr Danny Lamm had to say about it..
Statement from ZFA President Dr Danny Lamm on Netanyahu's speech to US Congress:
We commend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his brave and timely speech to the joint session of Congress in the United States on the dangers of a nuclear deal with Iran.
In the face of much criticism internally and externally, PM Netanyahu delivered a speech which was more than just rhetoric; a speech full of substance and tangible, peaceful alternatives to making a deal with the devil.
We can only hope that his advice does not fall on deaf ears in America or indeed the world, or the consequences could be dangerous not just for Israel but for the entire free world.
Statement from ZFA President Dr Danny Lamm on the US Jury’s finding on Palestinian Responsibility for terror attacks
24 February 2015
We welcome the reports of the findings of the US Jury that the Palestine Liberation Organisation and the Palestinian Authority bore responsibility for a series of terror attacks in Israel during the early 2000s.
In awarding substantial damages to the victims of terror, the jury has not only acknowledged their pain but has most importantly made a clear statement that those that support terror will be held to account.
During the second intifada, over 1200 Israelis were murdered in terror attacks perpetrated by Palestinian terrorists. This particular case refers to attacks that killed 33 people, awarding $218.5 million against the PLO and the Palestinian Authority. It is significant that should the Palestinian groups not meet their obligations to pay as ordered, there is a suggestion that the groups’ assets in the US and elsewhere could be seized.
No amount of money can redress the damage and pain inflicted by terror attacks, but by the Jury’s findings, those organisations which have backed terror have not only been called to moral account but also financial.
After Israel's elections: WHAT NOW?
Special events will be held in both Melbourne and Sydney to discuss the Israeli elections outcomes.
Featuring the Australian Jewish News' Israel correspondent, Nathan Jeffay in both cities, and with "The Australian" foreign editor Greg Sheridan and AIJAC policy analyst Or Avi Guy in Melbourne, and the ZFA's former president Dr Ron Weiser AM as co-panellists in Sydney.
These forums will provide insight and analysis of what the election results might mean for Israel and the Jewish world.
We thank the Australian Jewish News and our co-partners in each state.

Beit Halochem's wounded soldiers met with Aussie young adults for an informal discussion about their experiences
Hagshama is the ZFA's own young adult department, providing a vast array of events and opportunities.
On 25th February over 20 Young Adults enjoyed a BBQ and heard first hand experiences of Beit Halochem's wounded soldiers Ran and Shimon.
It was really nice for both Ran and Shimon to meet people their own age across the world who felt so connected to their experience serving in the IDF as many of the attendees have previously been to Israel and have friends in the IDF
Many thanks to the Searle family for kindly hosting Hagshama.
