The PAESTA Classroom

An online database designed for the sharing of short classroom exercises & explorations

An announcement from PAESTA President-Elect and Chair of the Teaching Resource Committee, Kelly Hunter

"PAESTA is excited to get the PAESTA Classroom up and running!  As we move forward and grow as an organization, we are asking all of our members to please submit any activities, lesson plans, pictures, etc. that you have adapted or created over your teaching career to the PAESTA Classroom. Since we are in the beginning phases of Classroom development, part of its success is dependent upon teacher submissions so we can create a comprehensive resource for all our members to use. Our members are our greatest resource, so please help us enhance the PAESTA Classroom by showing your creativity and innovations with our membership."

An announcement from PAESTA Chair of the Teacher Advisory Committee, Theresa Lewis-King

"The new feature PAESTA Classroom is an excellent forum for posting lessons that you have tried in your classroom. I started with the DLESE [Digital Library for Earth System Education] website to search for activities that I could use to enhance instruction of my 7th grade Weather and Climate unit. I was able to adapt standards-based lessons from DLESE to fit the needs of my students. Many of my lessons provide students the opportunity to use real time weather and climate data taken from NASA and NOAA websites. It was very easy to upload my customized lessons to the PAESTA Classroom database. Once you log on to the PAESTA website, the Navigation section at the bottom/right of the front page takes you directly to the Classroom. Submitting a lesson only requires that you write a brief summary of the lesson, along with objectives, and upload additional documents. I believe this feature will make it easy for teachers to share great lessons, activities, and ideas."

We welcome comments and questions!
If you have any questions about navigating the PAESTA Classroom, or any comments on the database itself, please do not hesitate to contact us at paesta@psu.edu. We want to make this collection of curricular materials easy to use and valuable to your teaching.

On the front page, our News from PAESTA and Science in the News sections are always being updated with new workshop opportunities, Earth and space science stories, and organization announcements. Note that new contributions to the PAESTA Classroom are not listed on the PAESTA main page but are continually added to the Classroom database.
