April 2016
Youth Behavioral Health Project
The CPAA's pilot project of identifying children with behavioral health challenges and connecting at-risk youth with intervention and treatment services is picking up significant momentum. Local partners including the Educational Service Districts (ESDs), the Behavioral Health Organizations (BHOs), the public health departments, and the school districts have come together to develop work plans and funding sources for the four pilot sites in Cowlitz, Mason, Thurston, and Wahkiakum counties. The pilot project workgroup is also working on finalizing a set of standard metrics for the project, with the help of the Center for Community Health and Evaluation.

Regional Health Improvement Plan Activities
The CPAA Council Regional Health Improvement Plan is continuing to move forward with four workgroups each tackling a different priority area. The unique perspectives and local expertise of community members, including those who have lived experience throughout the region, are needed to ensure that each action strategy is as effective as possible. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the conversation, please contact Justin Wagaman at, 360-539-7576 ext. 120.

The four CPAA workgroups include:
Adverse Childhood Experiences: strategies include Nurse Family Partnership program access, and coordinating with the NEAR Speakers Bureau.
Care Coordination and Health Integration / Chronic Disease Prevention and Management: strategies include the CPAA's Youth Behavioral Health Coordination project, surveying the region's existing care coordination activities, developing and expanding jail and fine alternatives and stronger criminal justice–health care transitions, and improving access to chronic disease self-management programs.
Provider Access: strategies include developing a telemedicine network, developing an ARNP residency program, and developing a regional provider recruitment plan.
Economic and Educational Opportunities: strategies include supporting individuals in obtaining and maintaining employment and livable income.
