CPAA Regional Council learns from Medicaid reform challenges and successes in other states
At the November 10th Regional Council meeting, CPAA members learned from Dr. Bruce Goldberg about how Medicaid transformation activities have panned out in other states, and how Washington might learn from those efforts. The group especially discussed how to sustain the work of the Accountable Communities of Health (ACHs), and how savings might be shared and reinvested across sectors. Read more>>>

Health Care Authority Updates

Medicaid Transformation
On November 15, the Health Care Authority (HCA) released a draft Project Toolkit for Initiative 1 of the Medicaid Transformation Project Demonstration (global waiver). This draft Project Toolkit is being shared with the intent to keep ACHs informed of HCA's progress, and a comprehensive draft will be released in December for public comment and additional feedback. HCA has prepared a timeline that shows the pre-implementation activities for the Medicaid Transformation Demonstration (global waiver) and has scheduled a webinar to update stakeholders on its status. The timeline begins with the state having reached an agreement in principle with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and shows the current being STC negotiations prior to the public comment period.

Washington Sentinel Network
The Sentinel Network recently released results from its first survey, conducted this summer. The results can be found on the online dashboard. The second statewide survey on health care employment was launched on November 1 to help inform employers, educators, and policymakers as they craft solutions to emerging workforce needs.
