How to Inspect Your Roof for Damage

We all know that owning a home is an expensive investment. Unfortunately, you can’t just move in and let it set. Homes require constant maintenance to ensure you don’t get costly damage. We suggest doing a yearly home inspection. Continue Reading...
Could You Have a Leak?

If you have received a bill from Yarra Valley Water that is higher than usual, this could be the result of a leak on your property.

All About Boating
If you own a boat, you probably try to take it out any chance you get. Boating has a certain comradery, whether it’s with your family, close friends or other boaters. Here are a few things to consider to make sure every boating adventure is a memorable one:

Make a Checklist. Before heading out, check your list. Be sure everything is working correctly like your lights, listen for any changes in the exhaust sound, and be sure you have all your safety items like a flash light, horn, life jackets, flares, or flags. It’s important your boat meets the federal, state and local requirements for safety equipment on board.

Buy a waterproof bag. To avoid losing or damaging your keys, cell phones, wallets or other important electronics, lock them up in a waterproof bag and place it somewhere safe in the boat.

Practice boating safety. Not only should you be aware of proper boat safety, but be sure your passengers are too. Unruly passengers are unsafe. This isn’t to say nobody can have fun on-board, but a quick safety talk is a good reminder. It is your boat and liability is your responsibility after all.

Is Your Insurance Up To Date?

Specialized Coverage. Do you have specialized coverage? Specialized coverage may not be available if your boat is under your home insurance policy. Consider finding coverage for on-water towing. This can be helpful if you ever run out of gas or have a mechanical issue while out on the water. Fuel spill and wreckage coverage protects you if your boat leaks fuel or if you get involved in an accident. Lastly, consider uninsured boat coverage. This would benefit you if your boat is hit by another boater who doesn’t have proper coverage.

Replacement. There are two options for replacement coverage; total loss or agreed value coverage. Total loss coverage allows you to replace your boat. Not all insurance coverage carriers provide this and not all boats are eligible, so speak with one of our agents to discuss the best option. It’s more likely that more carriers provide the Agreed Value coverage. This puts a value on your boat. Before you sign your policy, you and your agent determine the value of your boat.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask our knowledgeable staff! We’ll navigate your options to find the best coverage to fit your needs.
