Last weekend, over 50 men from Truro gathered at Graves Mountain Lodge for our first retreat together since before the pandemic! What an incredible time of fellowship, prayer, and ministry we had together. Thank you for your prayers for us!
I praise God for how he is restoring and building this church one-step-a-time. As we fix our eyes on Jesus, “…forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, (we) press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 3:13)
In the next few weeks, we’ll begin to share with you another step we’d like to take towards restoring and building the pillar of our community life here at Truro. Look for more info soon about “community nights,” every Tuesday at Truro during the season of Lent. Sneak peak: they’re going to involve a lot of good food, plenty of space for fellowship, board games for kids (and kids-at-heart), and I’ve even heard a rumor about a chili-cook-off. Maybe some fire pits and ‘smores too.
“The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad!” (Psalm 126:3)
Your brother in Christ,
Jamie
P.S. Catherine and I would love to see you at our Newcomer’s Lunch, this Sunday right after the 10 AM service. This is for anyone who’s still getting connected into the life of our church, or who wants to explore more about Truro. Please RSVP below so we can plan accordingly. Children are welcome!
Earthquake Relief for Turkey and Syria
We grieve and lament the recent earthquake, destruction, and loss of life in Turkey and Syria. We join together in prayer for the people of those nations in this time of incomprehensible loss. If you feel led to give towards relief efforts, Truro encourages you to give directly to the Joseph Fund, through the Anglican Relief and Development Fund. Click here to be directed to their page.
Bishop's Consecration
We are excited for the consecration of our new bishop, Rev. Chris Warner on Saturday, February 18, 10 AM, at The Falls Church Anglican. The Consecration Planning team is asking all the DOMA churches to help prepare and contribute food for the reception. Reverend Warner would like finger sandwiches, fruit skewers and chocolate chip cookies and Bishop John has requested that all the food be “homemade” rather than catered.
Truro has committed to at least five dozen, each, of ham biscuits, turkey sandwiches, and chocolate chip cookies. Specific instructions for food preparation are included in the Signup Genius link below. Food items must be delivered to Truro on February 16 between 10 AM and 2 in the Parish Office. Contact Maggie Marcum if you have additional questions.

TIPS
"The Best By Far!"
One of our students told us recently that she has tried every language program in the area, and that TIPS is the best by far! So many students are pouring in that we need help to uphold that reputation and continue ministering to these incredible people from around the world. We could really use help in three main areas:
Sign up to be a class assistant one day a week – no experience or preparation necessary!
Bring (or order) lunch on a Tuesday or Thursday – this is the most important time for connection and relationship-building, and we would love some help feeding the 60 people who regularly stay for lunch!
Many of our students are looking for jobs – everything from menial jobs to retail to diplomats to surgeons! If you can assist in any way, please let us know.
Sign up below to volunteer or contact Myra Hinote.
