Clergy Note

Are you new to Truro?

We want to meet you! Please join Jamie & Catherine Brown on November 13 for lunch and fellowship after the 10 AM service. Please register HERE.

Dear Truro Family,

In 2 Corinthians 9:7, we’re given a clear call to carefully consider our stewardship of the financial resources God has given us. Paul writes that “each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”. A cheerfully giving heart is something for us all to pray for, isn’t it?

So, I invite us all over the next few weeks to intentionally and prayerfully ask God to guide our hearts as we consider our stewardship of what he’s given us. Specifically, let’s ask God to guide us as we give to the mission and ministry of this church over the coming year.

In each of our services over the next few Sundays we’ll devote just a few minutes to thinking biblically about our giving through the lens of the gospel, leading up to Christ the King Sunday, November 20. On that day, we’ll take time to fill out a simple “pledge card” as an act of worship – and as a sign of cheerful giving back to God. “Not reluctantly, or under compulsion…”

Looking to Jesus and so excited for the future,

Jamie

P.S. I’m thrilled to share the news with you that Rev. Steven Shalita and his wife Michelle have agreed to lead Truro’s marriage ministry, and will be gathering a small group of leaders from within the congregation in the months to come to help bring this ministry to life, as the Lord leads. We want to be a church that cares for those who are preparing for marriage, those who are currently married, those who have experienced broken marriages, and those who are walking in singleness or widowhood, all with a heart to live fully into God’s best for us, with our identities firmly in Christ. Stay tuned in the months to come for more details.

Coming Up

TPK Turkey Trot

TPK will host the Turkey Trot on November 12 at 9 AM. We will meet at Truro Church and run/walk a mile down Main Street and return to the campus where we will celebrate, distribute medals, and enjoy music, a raffle, food, moon bounces, games, and face painting. This will be a wonderful time of fellowship and fun! Sign up HERE by October 23 to guarantee receipt of a T-shirt!

Sponsorships

The TPK Fun Run supports our operating budget, which includes our scholarship fund. These funds help us to provide a quality Christ-centered education for preschoolers and kindergarteners in our community. If you are interested in being a TPK Fun Run sponsor, click HERE.

Adult Education
King Jesus and His Unlikely Kingdom

All are welcome to join Rev. Mike Seawright this week for a Wednesday evening Bible study on Zoom at 7:30 PM, as we look at “The Agony and Glory of Waiting” and the ways of Jesus.
Volunteer

Pick up our new Ministry Volunteers Booklet!

(One per family please)
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Volunteerism is alive and well at Truro! Thank you to the many hands and voices who supported the clergy during Jamie’s Institution Service. Outside we had a busy crew setting up, grilling, and cleaning up after. And then there were all the wonderful dishes you brought to share with one-another. In all, there were nearly 70 people who volunteered to make Sunday a spectacular day for all of us. Thank you again for caring so much for your church family!
Truro Safety Training

Truro has established new requirements for volunteers serving these ministry areas to attend an in-person safety awareness course every two years. Do you volunteer with any of the following?
  • The Nest, Truro Kids, Youth Ministry
  • Seniors Ministries
  • Pastoral Care: those with health issues, physical disabilities
  • Prayer/Spiritual Direction/Counseling
  • Truro’s international and local outreach programs
Then join us for the next Truro Safety Training class on Monday, November 21 from 7-8:30 PM in Common Grounds. Click HERE to sign up. We will cover serving children, teens, and interacting with adults through our ministries. Open to anyone interested in learning more.
Vestry Update
The Vestry met October 18 and a summary of the meeting is available HERE.

Treasurer's Report

Thank you again for your commitment in giving both financially and in so many other ways to our parish!  Year to date through the month of September 2022, our received revenue is lower than our planned, budgeted amount by approximately $36,000.  Fortunately, our expenses year to date through September are much lower than anticipated by almost $58,000.

I know that in reviewing the October 2022 revenue thus far that we are continuing to get back on track against our planned budgeted revenue.  Please continue to give as generously as you are able with a cheerful heart so that our church can continue to do all the things that the Lord has called us to do as a church body.  Below is a summary of our revenue and expenses year to date.

Gratefully your Treasurer and brother,
Don Foy
