Dear Truro family,
In last week’s reading from Philippians, Paul remarked that he was sure he would be delivered from his suffering – in part because of the prayers of his brothers and sisters in Christ. We can never overstate the importance of praying for each other, and the importance of being prayed for.
Here at Truro, we aim to be a truly praying people, in at least these four ways:
1. During our services. We pray at the beginning, in the middle, at the end. Our Anglican liturgy is saturated with prayer at every turn.
2. After our services. Prayer teams are always available to pray with you for any reason. Don’t hesitate to ask!
3. During the week. Our clergy and/or prayer ministers are available to pray with you over the phone, or in person. Just reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. We treat every request for prayer with utmost sensitivity and confidentiality.
4. At the drop of a hat. I encourage us all to be mindful of those moments in a conversation, when something difficult or even mundane is shared, when the Holy Spirit might nudge us to either offer to pray for the person we’re talking with, or to ask for prayer.
In a day and age of constant noise, distraction, and competing voices, perhaps one of the most beautiful gifts the Body of Christ can offer to its members – and to anyone else within our reach – is the gift of prayer. Believing that Jesus hears us, that he is also interceding for us, and that he himself will deliver us.
Praying for you – and grateful for your prayers for my family and me,
The Heart of the Matter Getting ready for Stewardship Sunday, November 20
In his helpful book The Treasure Principle, Randy Alcorn gets at the heart of the matter, addressing the Biblical precepts that are to guide our financial stewardship. He lays out six keys to having a heart that gives to God generously, not reluctantly or under compulsion. The first two keys are these:
1. God owns everything; I’m His money manager. We are the managers of the assets God has entrusted—not given—to us.
2. My heart always goes where I put God’s money. Watch what happens when you reallocate your money from temporal things to eternal things.
Take a moment, before you read any further, to allow the Holy Spirit to sink those truths into your heart, as you prayerfully consider your financial stewardship in advance of Truro’s stewardship Sunday in a few weeks. May God remind us of these two things today: (1) All that we have belongs to him, and (2) he’s always looking at, and working on, our heart.
Directory Deadline Approaching!
Once again, this Sunday we'll be offering the opportunity for families to get their picture taken for the new Truro Directory. If you can't make it this weekend, we'll do this again on November 20, but that will be the last Sunday for pictures and information submissions before we begin production. Don't miss out on being included...and thank you to everyone who’s already contributed!
Click HERE to submit your information for the directory!
This Sunday we will again put out books for the taking with a whole new selection of books. We would like to offer you books from the library that we are unable to keep. They will be outside the Parish Office and by the Family Ministry tent. Take as many as you can load into your vehicles!
TPK Turkey Trot
TPK will host the Turkey Trot on November 12 at 9 AM. We will meet at Truro Church and run/walk a mile down Main Street and return to the campus where we will celebrate, distribute medals, and enjoy music, a raffle, food, moon bounces, games, and face painting. This will be a wonderful time of fellowship and fun! Sign up HERE by October 23 to guarantee receipt of a T-shirt!
The TPK Fun Run supports our operating budget, which includes our scholarship fund. These funds help us to provide a quality Christ-centered education for preschoolers and kindergarteners in our community. If you are interested in being a TPK Fun Run sponsor, click HERE.

Kids Ministry Corner
It’s “All Paul Fall” in Kids Ministry! In addition to worshiping with Ms. Odori, we have been tracing Paul’s journey and digging deeper into what he did and what God did through him. Kids get to do that using their own personal passports, destination stickers, and maps!
We have learned how deeply in love with Jesus and the good news Paul really was, and how nothing could stop Paul because nothing can stop God!
Ask a kid, or a volunteer, to tell you something about Paul!
Pick up our new Ministry Volunteers Booklet! (One per family please)
Truro Safety Training
Truro has established new requirements for volunteers serving these ministry areas to attend an in-person safety awareness course every two years. Do you volunteer with any of the following?

Then join us for the next Truro Safety Training class on Monday, November 21 from 7-8:30 PM in Common Grounds. Click HERE to sign up. We will cover serving children, teens, and interacting with adults through our ministries. Open to anyone interested in learning more.
