Welcome to the thirteenth monthly newsletter. 


While this newsletter is designed to help you have sight of what had gone on during the month so that you can pick up on anything you might have missed, I will be adding a small article with some of my ‘reflections’ at the beginning of each newsletter. I will list relevant information with links that will help you to access content of interest with ease. I would also like to hear from you any feedback you may have on the contents as well as anything new you might want me to do. I will do my best to respond.


Ranjan's Reflections

Dear Friends,

Excellent Teams need excellent leaders and excellent leaders are those with the right personal characteristics. The month of March 2013 was a month that revealed the importance of this aspect due to the various events that I was blessed to experience.

The first of this was the resignation of Pope Benedict and the election of Pope Francis. This event showed the humility that leaders required. I was moved so much by that event that I wrote a blog post of which the link you can read below.

 

Then came a timely reminder about the evil in this world that continuously attacks the good in this world. Leaders need to be spiritual so that they contribute to the positive energy needed for growth. I have also written a blog on this titled ‘Use it or lose it’ of which the link is below.

Finally this weekend that started with the last supper, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday gives a timely reminder of the talents leaders need to have to help their teams rise from various depths they fall into, in order to create better teams that will contribute to a better world.

  • Gearing up for excellence (new edit): This is the new edit of the powerful and thought provoking presentation I made at the ‘Unleashing Your DNA’ seminar at Zayed University Convention Center, Dubai, UAE in 2009 and uploaded last December. There are more than 1350 views so far. The new edit has all 3 parts [9 mts each] of the earlier video in one 27 mts video with new audience footage added to it.
  • Sensei HPI [Human performance Index] at work for Agora: A presentation made by me at the Bangalore HR Summit 2011, titled HPI at work at Agora, the leading supermarket chain in Bangladesh. HPI is the sum total of the actions, interactions, behaviors and collaboration of leaders, teams and individuals at all levels of a business that have direct or indirect impact on business performance.

 
  • Agora SME development case study: A presentation by me at the Bangladesh Agri Business Supply Chain Conference held in June 2012 in Dhaka. Agora is the leading Supermarket Chain in Bangladesh where Ranjan is the CEO. He shares his experience of building Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) suppliers for fresh produce in preparation for Agora’s rapid expansion.

What’s in store for April 2013

The moth of April is going to be filled with a variety of experiences that I will share with you as the month unfolds. 

 

  • We begin the month with day 1 & 2 of the Mastery of Self through Neuro Linguistic Programming [NLP] playshop on the 2 & 3 of April at the Galadari Hotel Colombo. The event was sold out last week and we will have 60 energetic participants discovering the wonders and the power of the mind and learning to shape their lives for success.
  • Then I travel to Vietnam on the 5th of April to Inspire another 60 persons at a Mastery of Self through NLP playshop for the management team of one of the Hirdramani companies in Vietnam. Then I go to Dubai on the 8th of April for 3 days of training in negotiating skills through NLP and work life balance through NLP. 
  • Then I go to Cleveland in the United Stated to take part in a 2 week intensive leadership development programme for health care industry CEO’s. I am attending this course to improve my skills in being more effective in the leadership role I play at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka. Although I took over the role with no health care industry background, I have been effective in the role. However this course will help me be more effective. I am looking forward to going back to school.
  • During the intervening weekend of the two weeks course the families of my brother Ishan and Sister Kishani and my cousins Leonard and Clera from California are visiting me in Cleveland and I am looking forward to a great family re-union weekend.
  • I then return to Colombo on the 29th of April.

 

 

Ranjan’s website has had 374 hits in March 2013, with 79% being new visitors and 21% being returning visitors.  The highest number of visitors last month are from Sri Lanka, with Bangaladesh 2nd and United States 3rd.

Klout measure your influence on the web by assigning a klout score to you. The score changes daily based on your level of influence. The Klout Score measures influence based on your ability to drive action. Every time you create content or engage you influence others. The Klout Score uses data from social networks in order to measure:

  • Amplification: How much you influence them
  • Network Impact: The influence of your network
