First and foremost, I hope this message finds you and your family safe. We know there are many families across our city who are still struggling after the events of last week.

We are thankful to have this strong, Lanier Community to lean on in difficult times.

While we all work to check pipes, begin to assess and repair what damage has been done and help neighbors and friends begin to recover, we want to provide a list of some of the local resources* available.

  • The Houston Food Bank is:
    • providing Home Delivery Disaster Boxes and water to households with seniors 65+, persons with disabilities, or infants. Reservation is required. Call 832-369-9390 to make a reservation. Clients who do not qualify will be directed to nearby open pantries, Crowd Source Rescue, and any other programs that would be of assistance.
    • visit houstonfoodbank.org/winterstorm and enter your ZIP code on the map to find other pantries near you
  • HISD will be distributing food boxes with the Houston Food Bank on:
  • Kids Meals Houston is working to resume deliveries Monday. Click here for more information or to sign up to volunteer.
  • Visit the Houston Recovers website for a list of Winter Storm Resources.
  • Check here for updates regarding bottled water distribution and more.
  • Call 211 - the United Way Help Line - for help connecting you to more local resources.
  • Check readyharris.org regularly for updates and a list of more recovery resources.

We have also had many Lanier families offer to help a Lanier family or staff member in need.  If you are in need, click the button below and let us know how we can help.

If you are able to help any families by donating funds, click the button below and we will distribute all funds collected through this link among our families in need.  We know Purple Pups want to help and we will work to make that happen!

There are many ways our community is already coming together to support one another. I am grateful for our families, teachers, staff and leaders and have never been prouder to be a part of the Lanier Middle School community.

Kindly,
Jessy Morgenroth
Lanier PTO President

*These resources have not been independently verified, as always do your due diligence.

LANIER ATHLETICS

Hope all our Lanier Families are safe and recovering from last week’s storms. We had some cancellations last week in multiple sports and our football game for this week 2/25 against Meyerland has been canceled by the district. Unfortunately, other sports will have some cancellations as well. However, we are hopefully to get some competitions rescheduled for possibly later in the week and some voluntary practices for those programs and student-athletes that are able to attend as well. Please check with your individual coach for updates to this week’s schedule.

GO PUPS!

Parents!
Did your child miss Photo Day at school?
No worries! Here is how we can get your child in the 2021 Yearbook!

Choose an appropriate portrait photo from your camera roll or take one on the spot and
upload it through ybkplus.com.
Here's How…
 On your phone, go to www.ybkplus.com.
 Once on the site, you will enter the email that is on file with the school.
 A code will then be emailed to you to verify identity.
 Choose My Portrait (the first choice at the top), select the photo (from the camera roll on your phone) you want to use as your child’s portrait, make sure your child’s face fits inside the face opening, then submit!

You can watch a video here: https://bit.ly/3af3n1r

The yearbook staff reserves the right to reject any photo that does not accurately represent the student identified, does not follow proper student dress code and/or does not meet publications standards.

Thanks for your help!   We’re working hard on creating a yearbook that captures this historic school year.  If you haven’t already ordered yours, you can do so at jostensyearbooks.com, or go to Lanier’s website at https://www.houstonisd.org/lanier to order.
When to stay home and other steps Lanier students, teachers, and staff should take to protect themselves and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Lanier students, staff, and teachers should stay home if they have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, are showing symptoms of COVID-19, or have recently had close contact with a person with COVID-19, including household members. Students or staff who have family members who test positive for SARS-CoV-2 should stay home, notify Nurse Hechler, self-quarantine and continue to monitor symptoms.
Nurse Hechler will approve your return to school date.

Nurse Hechler has noted that, through contact tracing, 90% of exposures and positive cases come from after school/weekend get togethers where masks are not worn.  Meeting with people outside of your household for meals & parties is risky.  You are at your most vulnerable in these situations – mask off, less than 6 feet apart for longer than 15 minutes.
Stay vigilant and safe, Lanier Family!
