#Borealis2017 Dream team

This is where the magic starts. Each Autumn the Borealis team starts to grow to prepare for the coming festival, and we’re delighted to welcome Kjetil Bjøreid Aabø as our new Project Manager! Not only does he excel at solving tricky technical challenges through his work at USF Verftet, but he also has a secret musical side as a member of Bergen’s legendary synthpop band, Casiokids! He’ll be joined by returning Borealis favourite Irem Müftüoglu, who will be taking on a new role as Head of Communication, and the amazing Gabriela Passos, who will be stepping up her role as Festival Office Manager. We’re excited to have such great people to meet the challenges of running a small festival with big ambitions, and soon we’ll be welcoming the rest of the team and our festival interns to the gang, and open the doors to volunteers to bring the whole thing off. If you’re interested in being part of the Borealis adventure, then watch this space for how to volunteer!

BLC #7 with Jonáš Gruska

Our October Borealis Listening Club features a visit from Slovakian artist, field recordist, and instrument builder Jonáš Gruska as he comes to Bergen to prepare for his site-specific performance at Borealis 2017! He'll be talking about his recent fascination for electromagnetic recordings and the instruments he's been building to capture a whole other universe of sounds. We'll also hear a highlight from the recent Nordic Music Days festival, and we're saving some slots for your suggestions, so email post@borealisfestival.no with ideas of tracks you'd like us to listen to.

As ever, the bar will be open and there'll be popcorn, listening and conversation! See you there!
