PEI Convention Centre & Water's Edge
The Prince Edward Island Convention Centre, which adjoins the Delta Prince Edward at 18 Queen St. in Charlottetown, officially opened for business on August 1, 2013. Water's Edge Restaurant and Bar, which is located in the lobby of the hotel, opened earlier this year on May 6th. Big Erics was involved in the planning and supply of both.
Big Erics supplied the Convention Centre with a server pantry, walk-in refrigeration, storage units, an ice machine, stainless tabling and more. "Louise and Andrew [Jessome] at Big Erics have been a pleasure to work with," says Mark Gregory, Director of Food and Beverage at the Delta Prince Edward. "From the design phase to the installation of the Convention Centre's equipment, they have always responded quickly to our questions and requests. We are looking forward to the next phase of our kitchen renovation. Louise was instrumental in the design and sourcing of equipment needed for our operation. Throughout the process Louise has been professional, attentive and always flexible with our changing needs."
The PEI Convention Centre and Delta Prince Edward combined offers over 50,000 sq. ft. of meeting space. The Convention Centre features a Confederation Ballroom of 24,000 sq. ft. which is divisible into six separate rooms, some with a water view. The Centre also features six breakout rooms with waterfront views, two permanent boardrooms, two conference offices and an outdoor patio overlooking the waterfront with the ability to accommodate up to 600 delegates.
Water's Edge is an upscale casual restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to hotel guests and locals. The lunch menu features gourmet sandwiches, local products and express lunch options while the dinner menu boasts a small plates concept with many local and interesting ingredients designed to please everyone looking for a culinary adventure. The bar is in the middle of the lobby and has a modern retro design. Live entertainment on the weekends along with a selection of local beer and spirits make it a popular choice for locals and hotel guests in the evenings.
In October, Water's Edge will be participating in Porktoberfest; an Island wide pork promotion in which participating restaurants offer their best pulled pork sandwiches which are then voted on by consumers.
