Vollrath Receives 4 Best in Class Awards!

 Each year, Foodservice Equipment and Supplies magazine conducts a Best in Class study amongst its subscribing operators, dealers and consultants.  This year, Vollrath has named Best in Class in four categories: Induction Cooktops (7th Year in a Row), Cookware (8th Year in a Row), Manual Food Choppers/Slicers (3rd Year in a Row), and Tabletop & Buffet and Serving Accessories (2nd Year in a Row)! On November 8th, Chef Shaun Hussey of Chinched Bistro won the Gold at the 4th Annual Gold Medal Plates competition in St. John's, NL. In February, he will be moving on to the National Competition in Kelowna, BC. 
In order to get the whole team to Kelowna, Chinched Bistro has teamed up with Quidi Vidi Brewery and the other Gold Medal Plates podium winners, Chef Roary MacPherson of the Sheraton (Bronze) and Chef Mark McCrowe of Aqua and The Club (Silver), to hold a fundraising dinner.  On January 10th, the three Chefs will be hosting a 6 course dinner at the Quidi Vidi Brewery. Turkey Drive!

This holiday season, the Big Erics branch in Moncton is partnering with Panago Pizza in a promotion to support the Sue Stultz Annual Turkey Drive.  
From Saturday, December 8th to Friday, December 14th, anyone can drop off a frozen turkey to donate to the Drive at Panago Pizza and receive a voucher for a free medium pizza as a token of appreciation!  All donations will be forwarded to the Sue Stultz Turkey Drive, which donates the turkeys to the Food Depot Alimentaire to help less fortunate families who cannot afford a turkey for Christmas.  Big Erics is providing the freezers to store the turkeys.  Our goal is to collect at least 100 turkeys, so if you're in the area, please help out and donate a turkey!
Panago Pizza has been in Moncton since May of 2010, and has been actively involved in the local community ever since.  "We get involved in a variety of fundraising programs with schools, hockey teams and special interest groups, " says the Panago's owner, Joe Sivitilli. "This summer we also created a unique program with Canadian Blood Services.  Those who donated blood during the clinic's least popular week of the summer received a voucher for a free medium True Canadian pizza.  It was a huge success; the clinic exceeded its donor quota that week by 250 people!  Recently, we partnered with to recognize kids who've made a difference in bullying prevention by providing class pizza parties for the winners."
Panago Pizza is not just a pizza place - it takes a fresh approach to pizza with a wide selection of pizzas, breadsticks, salads and chicken wings.  It is located at 45 Plaza Boulevard, Moncton, across from Future Shop. White Point Beach Resort
Opened in 1928 as a private hunting and fishing lodge, White Point has grown over the last eight decades, while remaining true to its roots as a favourite Oceanside resort.  It has achieved the longest average stay and the greatest number of repeat customers of any hotel operator in the province of Nova Scotia.
On November 12, 2011, White Point's Main Lodge was destroyed in a devastating fire.  Fortunately, no one was injured.  However, the loss was a blow to Nova Scotia's tourism industry.

Less than a year later, White Point has reopened welcoming White Pointers back to the beach!  The new lodge is a Nova Scotia Masterpiece showcasing quality workmanship of contractors, craftsmen and suppliers from Nova Scotia.  Big Erics worked in conjunction with architects and White Point's Executive Chef Alan Crosby to design and plan the kitchen.  Big Erics supplied state-of-the-art equipment and supplies for the kitchen, and worked with Efficiency Nova Scotia to ensure the provision of energy efficient equipment, which will further the Green Initiatives of White Point.  White Point benefitted from the energy rebate program and will reduce their operating costs in the long run.  "It's been a privilege to work with Owner Robert Risley and Chef Alan Crosby on this project that is so meaningful to its community," says Keith Preston, Big Erics' Contract Sales Manager.

Executive Chef Alan has been intimately involved in the project from vision to completion.  Chef Crosby says, "Big Erics has been an invaluable resource from working with us on the design, installation to ongoing equipment support.  The technical suggestions along the way were welcomed.  It's been a pleasure having Big Erics at our side throughout our rebuild." 
In addition to the Kitchem White Point's Main Lodge, the heart of the year-round resort, houses Elliot's Dining Room and Founder's Lounge, Atlantic Room & Crow's Nest (both are meeting rooms with oceanviews), pool, Games Room, Children's Games Room, fitness centre and future home to guest rooms and spa.  In addition to accommodation and food service, White Point boasts services and amenities including, but not limitied to, their Ocean Spa, Vacation Club, Golf Course, Estates, Vacation Homes, and Surf Shop.
White Point is preparing to welcome back White Pointer in time for the Holidays this year.  Marketing Manager, Donna Hatt says, "White Pointers have been a part of our journey back to opening and it will be like a very, very large family reunion when guests begin rolling back in like the tides for Christmas and New Years and all dates in betwee, just like they used to."  Exciting events this month include White Point's signature Mussel Bake, Chef Alan Crosby's "Chef Magic" Culinary Session, the Events Nova Scotia Provincial Conference, several live performances, and the Annual Holiday Dinner Show join the festive Holiday line-up.
