Hot Days Reminders: Wildlife and Trees
The next two weeks or more are expected to be extremely hot and dry. Please help out the birds and squirrels by filling birdbaths with fresh water or leaving a shallow pan of water where they can access it, but where your pets can't.

Also, CenterPoint tree contractors are working in the neighborhood and clear-cutting at least an 8 ft diameter around their lines, per OSHA regulations. For the trees planted near the power lines, this volume of pruning can shock and damage them. You can help your trees by giving them extra water for the next month or until regular rains resume. If that isn't enough, you may wish to consult a reputable forester for additional advice on helping trees weather the drought. Other trees in your yard may also benefit from extra water during this time.
