On July 7, 2022 an Old Braeswood Patrol subscriber on Bellefontaine called SEAL to let them know that her neighbor had found 3 bags in her front yard that did not belong to her. A SEAL officer was sent to investigate. Usually when this happens we find out they are usually dumped stolen items
The SEAL officer arrived and let the SEAL administrator know he had possession of the 3 bags. He was advised to call HPD and to check for any identifying documents to help find the owner. The officer found a checkbook and a phone number on a piece of paper. The SEAL administrator called the number and reached a male whose name was on the checks. He advised those were his bags and he was in the the midst of filing a police report with HPD. The victim and his wife had been eating at Goode Seafood Company just off Kirby when someone broke their vehicle's window and grabbed a tote bag and 2 laptop bags and took off.
The SEAL administrator was able to speak to the HPD officer and to get him and the owners to the home in Old Braeswood where the items were recovered. They noted that a laptop, a charger, additional checkbooks and some other items were missing. The couple was very appreciative of the Old Braeswood resident and our SEAL officer for taking the time to locate them and return their belongings.
