Diocesan Synod 14 May
The Next Diocesan Synod takes place at Sir Robert Woodard Academy in Lancing. The agenda and supporting papers will be posted out from next week and will be available from the diocesan website.
Clergy moves:
The Revd Peter Mead, Incumbent of St Leonard’s and St Ethelburga has now Left the Diocese to be Rector of Arbroath Aucmitie
 
The Revd David Weaver, Priest-in-Charge Haywards Heath, St Richard is now Incumbent of Haywards Heath, St Richard
 
The Revd David Swyer is now NSM Curate at Haywards Heath, St Richard

The Revd William Harris – Incumbent: West Grinstead has now  retired
 
The Revd Mary Parish – Assistant Priest: Worthing, St Matthew has now retired

The Revd Simon Horton – Curate: Goring-by-Sea   to be  licensed as Priest-in-Charge: Saltdean, St Nicholas on 19 April
 
The Revd Stephen Merriman – Team Vicar: Littlehampton & Wick  to become Incumbent: Chichester, St Wilfrid on 20 April

The Revd Kevin Humphrys  to be licensed as  Curate (NSM): Roffey on 21 April

The Revd John Lyon – Incumbent: East Preston, St Mary will retire on 22 April

Mothers' Union celebrates 140 years! MU branches and many of our parishes are linking up and celebrating this special year in a variety of ways. Events are being posted on the Diocesan MU events page here

 
The Filling Station
This is a monthly top up with the Holy Spirit, reaching out to those who may feel dry or isolated in the rural setting. Offering friendly fellowship, over delicious cakes and coffee, wonderful free worship, talented teaching from experienced Filling Station speakers and powerful prayer ministry. Find out more

Free Hire of the Palace Sherborne room or Chapel
Many of our parishes have taken advantage of the opportunity to use the Palace rooms in Chichester for parish groups meetings and awaydays. These facilities are free to groups from the diocese. More details and contact information can be found on the Diocesan website

Archbishop's Wave of Prayer

Parish Giving Scheme
For the first time, in April 2016, the PGS collected more than one million pounds from donors. This sum was then uplifted with Gift Aid (where appropriate) and distributed to over 750 local churches that now participate in the scheme. Workshops in March

Adult Safeguarding Conference
The East Sussex Conference will take place on Saturday 7th May 2016 at Crowborough, All Saints Church from 10am-3.30pm. This conference is for Parish Safeguarding Coordinators or a representative who has responsibilities in the parish for adult protection. For further details please contact Kim Nash 01273 425680.

New book soon to be published
Clergy in a Complex Age. This new volume, due out on 21 April, responds to and explains the scope and detail of the newly revised guidelines for the professional conduct of the clergy, featuring contributions from a number of experts including John Pritchard, Stephen Cherry and Paula Gooder. Chancellor's Lectures at Chichester Cathedral
A series of four lectures given by the Cathedral Chancellor, Canon Dr Anthony Cane.The lectures are at 6.30pm in the Cathedral nave, following Evensong. Free entry, all are welcome. Full details here

In the Cathedral, there will be two ordination services where deacons will be ordained as priests:

On Saturday 21 May at 4.00pm, there will be an ordination of both men and women to the priesthood.  The ordaining Bishop will be Bishop Richard.

On Sunday 22 May at 5.30pm there will be an ordination to the priesthood for those who on the grounds of theological conviction are unable to be ordained alongside women.  The ordaining Bishop will be Bishop Martin.

Volunteers needed for South of England Show
Where better to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday weekend than at the South of England Show in Ardingly on 9, 10 and 11 June 2016, in Ardingly, West Sussex, where you can enjoy the best of the British countryside, food and drink and outdoor entertainment for the whole family. More
