De Kring is warmgelopen. De eindsprint van de laatste weken is begonnen, al lijken weinig leden uit te kijken naar de zwart-wit geblokte vlag aan het einde van de baan. Door de stijgende zomertemperaturen speelt het verenigingsleven zich vaker en vaker buiten af. Van het Eftelingbezoek en de DiMiBo tot de Amelandreis en het uitje naar Volendam, de Utrechtse Historische Studentenkring is in het zonlicht gestapt. 

Hierboven zien jullie twee sfeerimpressies.
De eerste is een foto van de Galacommissie op locatie. Kasteel Maurick te Vught was, tot niemands verbazing, een prachtig toneel voor een avond vol spel. Wat een stuk! Aanwezigen droegen hun mooiste kostuum en het bier vloeide rijkelijk. 
De ietwat confronterende foto's van het Lustrumgala vind je hier.

Een beeld van het Lustrumfestival is te zien op de tweede foto. De HistoriCie, de MusiCie en de EJC droegen bij aan het middagprogramma in de vorm van verschillende spellen. Torenhoge verwachtingen werden waargemaakt zonder in de knoop te komen of meer vragen op te roepen. Na een lekker maaltje smeten leden geld over de balk tijdens de bestuursveiling. Voor dit goede doel hebben we ons met liefde verkocht.

Hierna namen de Accie en de FeCo het over. De vraag 'wie is het?' is nog nooit zo vaak beantwoord met een geinige gezichtsuitdrukking en de combinatie van bier en sport was een grote hit.

De hitte is niet alleen van invloed op de vereniging in de letterlijke, maar ook in de figuurlijke zin. Hartverwarmende taferelen spelen zich overal af waar de UHSK gaat. Vriendschappen gloeien en nieuwe vlammen laaien op.

Hoewel er nog geen foto's van de Amelandreis op de website staan, is het beeld van de Swinging Mill op mijn netvlies gebrand. De tosti's en kopjes thee na het uitgaan smaakten ons allen goed, maar het bier op ieder uur van de dag smaakte nog beter. Niet alleen in de avond gingen we even uit ons bol.

Ondanks de vele hitte-metaforen zie ik geen schroeiplekken, want het vuur voor de vereniging brandt enkel in onze harten. Helaas zullen jullie moeten wachten tot september voor de volgende nieuwsbrief. Maak je echter geen zorgen, die nieuwsbrief zal ik nog schrijven. Het Bestuur draagt jullie allemaal een warm hart toe deze zomer!

Dear UHSK members,

The Kring is running hot. The final sprint of the last few weeks has begun, although few members seem to be looking forward to the black-and-white chequered flag at the end of the track. The rising summer temperatures mean that association life is taking place outside more often. From the Efteling visit and the Tuesday Afternoon Drinks to the Ameland trip and the outing to Volendam, the Utrechtse Historische Studentenkring has stepped into the sunlight. 

Above you can see two impressions.
The first is a photo of the Gala Committee on location. To no one's surprise, Castle Maurick in Vught was a beautiful stage for an evening full of play. What a play! All attendees wore their finest costumes, and the beer flowed abundantly.

The Lustrum Festival can be seen in the second picture. The HistoriCie, the MusiCie and the EJC (First Year Committee) contributed to the afternoon programme with various games. Towering expectations were met without getting tangled up or raising more questions. After a nice meal, members squandered money during the board auction. For this good cause, we lovingly sold ourselves.

After this, the Accie and the FeCo took over. The question 'who is it?' was never answered so often with a funny facial expression, and the combination of beer and sports was a big hit.

The heat does not only affect the association in the literal, but also in the figurative sense. Heart-warming scenes take place wherever the UHSK goes. Friendships glow and new flames flare up.

Although there are no photos yet on the website of the Ameland trip, the image of the Swinging Mill has been burned into our retinas. The 'tosti's' and cups of tea after going out tasted good to all of us, but the beer at any hour of the day tasted even better. It wasn't just in the evening that we went 'uit ons bol'.

Despite the many heat metaphors, I don't see any scorch marks, because the fire for the association only burns in our hearts. Unfortunately, you will have to wait longer for the next newsletter, as it will only be sent in September. Don't worry, the first newsletter will still be written by me. The Board bears you all a warm heart this summer!
