There is another new newsletter for you. I would like to express my sincere apologies that you are only now receiving this merged newsletter. I would like to start by wishing everyone a Happy New Year, I hope that this year may begin to be a little happier than the past year. The year 2020 has gone by like an express train, we have been incredibly busy and experienced many chaotic situations. Especially the last weeks before the vacations were incredibly chaotic for the board. Unfortunately, there is no handbook written on how to deal with a pandemic and a lockdown. The holidays were a much needed luxury for the board to rebuild their energy and think about how we will move forward through this pandemic.
We had an eventful year and an eventful December, but once again there was light in the darkness in the form of wonderful activities. The month began with a fun and educational activity by the Career Committee. The informal career drink gave every attendee a chance to have a fun conversation with fellow students about what everyone wanted from their studies. The Family Committee hosted a fun brother/sister quiz that same week. In addition to the fun activities, there were also important serious activities organized in December such as an incredibly well-attended UBO Webinar and a discussion night about the contribution increase. The outcome of this evening will be discussed at next week's ALV. The last activity I would like to discuss is the Sinterklaas celebration. I want to thank everyone from the committees, I hope you had a nice afternoon, but especially the Lustrum committee deserves a thank you for helping out with this afternoon. We made it a great celebration despite everything.
This coming month will also bring a lot of things. We start this week with the first board briefing, for all of you who are thinking about joining the board next year: Come and have a look on Thursday! The Intercom also organizes a Game Night, this was first the language cafe. Last time it was a great event so I have high hopes for the second edition. We end this month with two highlights, namely the ALV on January 20 and the HMD on January 29. We have decided to do these entirely online as the lockdown seems to be extended.
I hope to have informed everyone again and to see everyone a lot this month. Until the next Newsletter!
On behalf of the 95th board of the Utrechtse Historische Studentenkrings.
