The Kamloops Sport Council 24th Annual Athletic Awards will once again celebrate the very best in local sports.
To qualify for the annual Athletic Awards, any nominee, able bodied or with a disability, who has made a significant contribution to sport(s) in the 2015 calendar year is eligible.

Influencing Change for Women
Influencing Change is a 3 hour workshop designed to help girls and women recognize and improve basic leadership skills, enhance individual networks and build stronger communities of women in leadership roles. Influencing Change is a fun, interactive workshop with a lot of “Ah-ha” that will positively change the way you see yourself and the role you play in supporting others.
You will learn:
- Habits that Limit your Influence
- Tips on Being Heard
- 8 Step Change Model
- Different “Change Styles”
CAAWS is the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women, Sport and Physical Activity whose mission is to encourage leadership in girls and women.
The Influencing Change workshop facilitator is Niki Remesz, owner of Uniquely Inspired Marketing. Niki is an active volunteer and student mentor at Thompson Rivers University. Although a leadership advocate for all people, Niki is a CAAWS workshop facilitator helping to promote leadership engagement for girls and women in all facets of their lives.

Local Sport Program Development Fund
The Local Sport Program Development (LSPD) Fund makes community sport more accessible to people of all abilities. LSPD funding is awarded to sport programs delivered by non-profit organizations which include local sport organizations, municipalities, and Aboriginal communities.

Funding for Girls and Women in Sports
Founded by ProMOTION Plus and the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS), the Girls Only and Forever Active Bodies (FAB) 55+ grants are part of an overarching funding program geared towards the development of sport opportunities that inspire girls and women to get active in British Columbia.

2016 Equipment Grant Program - Spring Release
The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council’s (Partners Council) Spring Release of the 2016 Equipment Grant Program offers First Nations, Métis Chartered Communities and Aboriginal Friendships Centres across British Columbia the opportunity to apply for funds to purchase sport, recreation and/or physical activity equipment. The equipment must be used to promote healthy active lifestyles by reducing barriers and increasing access to sport, recreation and physical activity programs.
This Provincial release of the Equipment Grant Program is delivered through the Partners Council’s Provincial Selection Committee, inclusive of the Northwest, Northeast, Interior, Fraser, Vancouver Coastal and Vancouver Island. This Committee will be responsible for evaluating the applications submitted by communities/organizations from all regions and awarding the grants.

Coaches Corner Lunch & Learn
These casual lunch & learn events are a great opportunity for Coaches, Sport Administrators and anyone else interested in these coach education topics to learn from presenters in various fields and network with other coaches. We meet every 2 months, usually on the 2 nd Thursday of the month. There is no fee to attend; however, if you'd like a bite to eat, that's on you. We wish we could treat our community coaches to lunch every time we meet!!

Among our Active for Life Role Models, we have some incredible elite athletes. Travis Gerrits is an aerial ski jumper who spends most of his days upside down doing flips in the air.

We are pleased to welcome and announce the new IGNITE Athlete Development Program Members for the Winter 2016/17 session which will run Feb 2016 – Feb 2017!

This group of boys have all played on Team BC for lacrosse and bring with them a multi-sport background and commitment to further developing their athletic development beyond the field of play. Welcome!
The IGNITE Athlete Development program is delivered by experienced specialists and with the aim of building complete champions. The program introduces young athletes to a high-performance lifestyle by improving their athleticism and physical literacy through a multi-sport training program, focusing on three movement streams:
- Strength Training
- Gymnastics
- Sprint Training
