Kamloops Sports Council Awards & Hall of Fame Inductees

Congratulations to the award winners, nominees and Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame inductees this year at the Sports Council Athletic Awards and Hall of Fame Banquet on April 9th. Guest speaker, Scott Rintoul, had the sold out crowd of 400 laughing and it was a truly inspiring evening for the sport community. Looking forward to next year already! Read full article

2016 CWBL National Championship



Kamloops, BC was honored to host the 2016 Canadian Wheelchair Basketball Championships at the Tournament Capital Centre. The tournament was hosted by Wheelchair Basketball Canada  and British Columbia Wheelchair Basketball Society with the help from KASA (Kamloops Adapted Sports Association). Congratulations to all athletes who competed including our own Kamloops Bulldogs!
 

Grant Opportunities

BC Ferries Sport Experience Program

Through the BC Ferries Sport Experience Program, BC Ferries and viaSport provide travel support to eligible not-for-profit sport organizations and athletes.
Vouchers may be used by athletes traveling to compete in international events, national championships, western Canadian championships, provincial championships or selection camps (does not include pre-season, tournaments, regular season league or event play).

Coaches BC Legacy Fund

The Coaches BC Legacy Fund was set up in 2013 with the goal of encouraging more community level coaches to become involved, to further their education, and to receive training and/or certification. As a result, four coach grants have been created to assist provincial sport organizations, community clubs and coach developers.

About David Stride:

  • 20 years of experience in strength and conditioning and working with athletes and teams
  • David holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from the Universities of Saskatchewan and Alberta
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is an active member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
  • NCCP coaching certification in various sports
  • David currently owns Stride Sport and Performance, a strength and conditioning business within the Kamloops area.
  • Stride Sport and Performance provides complete athletic conditioning for youth to master athletes. David works with athletes at the youth, provincial, collegiate, junior, national and master level in numerous sports.

Coaches Corner Lunch & Learn



These casual lunch & learn events are a great opportunity for Coaches and Sport Administrators to learn from presenters in various fields and network with other coaches. We meet every 2 months, usually on the 2nd Thursday of the month. There is no fee to attend; however, if you'd like a bite to eat, that's on you. We wish we could treat our community coaches to lunch every time we meet!!

How to be a More Adventurous Parent

My kids are now 10, 12, and 14 years-old and they are all physically literate. Or at least they are well on their way. It’s been a journey that started when they were tiny and has continued every day since. And, I credit my tenacity and crazy sense of adventure for getting us all out of the house and moving in new and unexpected ways. Our XploreSportZ Spring Break campers were lucky to meet Team Russia from the IIFH Women's Worlds Hockey Tournament being hosted here in Kamloops.



BC Target Sports Association attended the Kamloops Firearms & Antiques Show. 2015 CWG Air Rifle Silver medalist Leia Hoot helped out with the booth that was awarded 1st place for best display.
