2015 Operation Red Nose Campaign

The 19th Operation Red Nose campaign in Kamloops finished strong by providing 1211 safe rides home over 10 nights of service and raising close to $31,000 in donations. Kamloops finished 1st in the province by providing the most rides out of the 13 host communities!

The success of the campaign would have not been possible without the support of the volunteers. We had 235 volunteers fill close to 600 volunteer positions over the 11 nights of service. These volunteers drove 24,810 kilometers over the 10 nights to get clients and their vehicles home safely.

The donations raised from the campaign go to PacificSport Interior BC. All proceeds will go toward developing services and programs for amateur sport in the Kamloops region.  Operation Red Nose started in Kamloops in 1997 and PacificSport has given almost $280,000 in athlete travel support, $47,000 in coach travel support and a variety of equipment bought to help support athletes and their training.

Thank you Kamloops, this community continues to be a huge supporter of Operation Red Nose! Looking forward to the 2016 Operation Red Nose campaign and celebrating 20 years in Kamloops.

Trevor Ragan, Founder of Train Ugly, in Kamloops, BC - January 17th

Trevor Ragan, Founder of Train Ugly, advocate for a growth mindset in coaching, has dedicated himself to researching how learning best occurs. However, he has noticed that there is a large gap between the best practices found in the research and common coaching methods.

Train Ugly is based on motor learning and performance science research, and focuses on how to foster an environment that promotes personal growth and improvement. Trevor’s mindset approach has been used both in the sports world (e.g. the USA Women’s Volleyball Team, the Miami Heat) and the corporate world (e.g. Starbucks).

In his presentation, Trevor will talk about the research that informs Train Ugly, and share with coaches practical information such as how to foster a growth mindset and how to give constructive (not destructive) feedback.
