Now in its second year, the unique athlete recruitment program is searching far and wide for Canada's next great Olympian. Who will it be?

This is a FREE one-day athlete identification camp designed to test athletes' capacity for sport performance at its highest level. Each athlete goes through a set of basic physiological tests plus one or two sport-specific tests conducted by world-class sport performance experts in order to find out how they measure up to National Team standards.
The winner selected from this Regional Qualifier will have the opportunity to compete at the Event final in Richmond, BC, at the Olympic Oval on March 4.

Coaches Corner

These casual lunch & learn events are a great opportunity for Coaches and Sport Administrators to learn from presenters in various fields and network with other coaches. We meet every 2 months, usually on the 2nd Thursday of the month. There is no fee to attend; however, if you'd like a bite to eat, that's on you. We wish we could treat our community coaches to lunch every time we meet!!

APPLICATION DEADLINE for the IGNITE Athlete Development Program & Scholarship is FEB 10th for 2017/18 Intake!
This is a multi-sport fundamental athletic skills program designed to introduce athletes, ages 13-17, to a high-performance lifestyle by improving their athleticism, physical literacy and fitness through a training program which is complementary to their current sport-specific practice and competition schedules with sessions focusing on three movement streams: Athletics, Gymnastics & Strength and Conditioning.

A sport environment in which participants - athletes, coaches,volunteers, and officials - are exposed to negative experiences such as bullying can be harmful and cause individuals to quit. 55% of BC sports organizations surveyed know of athletes who have dropped out of #sport because of bullying. That’s why viaSport and the Government of B.C. have launched a new #ERASEbullying initiative for every provincial and local sport organization, and all B.C. citizens.

On February 22, 2017, the sport sector will celebrate the Province’s first Declaration of Commitment to erase bullying in sport across B.C. Learn more about this initiative and how you can get involved at as an organization or individual at

Vouchers may be used by athletes traveling to compete in international events, national championships, western Canadian championships, provincial championships or selection camps (does not include pre-season, tournaments, regular season league or event play).

Our grassroots programs including XploreSportz camps, City of Kamloops partnered programs Active Tots, Tots Run, Jump, Throw and Floorball and Canucks Autism Network partnered program, I CAN Be Active and I CAN Play Sports, support physical literacy and ensure that children and youth have the opportunity to be inspired by sport and lead a healthy active lifestyle.

Nominations for the viaSport 2016 Coach of the Year Awards are now open until Tuesday, February 28. These awards were founded by the Coaches Association of BC, and are funded by the Bob Bearpark Foundation.

The awards recognize the contributions and achievements of coaches in the following categories: Grassroots/Recreational, Regional/Provincial and International. Winners are invited to attend the 2017 Banquet of Champions hosted by BC Sports Hall of Fame on April 12, 2017.
