WVIA 2019 Annual Meeting Recap
 

On Thursday, November 7, 2019, the Westwood Village Improvement Association (WVIA) hosted its 8th Annual Meeting at the Hammer Museum's Susan Bay Nimoy and Leonard Nimoy Studio.

Property owners, merchants, and local residents, as well as Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Koretz, attended the meeting to learn about the progress made in the Westwood Business Improvement District. The meeting also featured a presentation from the City of Los Angeles' Director of Planning, Vince Bertoni.

Cinema Under the Stars: Holiday Event


The free outdoor family-friendly movie series, Cinema Under The Stars, is back to kick off the holiday season with a double-feature movie night. 

Attendance is free and the event is open to the public. Moviegoers should bring their own chairs, blankets, friends and family to enjoy these fan-favorite holiday flicks in a unique outdoor setting under the stars.

There will be free pictures with Santa Claus, a holiday-themed photo-booth, live music, kids crafts, hot cocoa and more!

Snap a picture at the Westwood Village holiday ornament located at the intersection of Westwood Blvd and Kinross and use the hashtag #WestwoodCelebrates for your chance to WIN a gift card from one of our many Westwood Village businesses! There are many chances to win!

To enter, simply follow these instructions:
  1. Follow @WestwoodVillage on Instagram
  2. Take a photo, selfie or group picture at the holiday ornament 
  3. Use the hashtag #WestwoodCelebrates, tag @WestwoodVillage and post the image on Instagram

Photos will be automatically entered into a drawing and your picture might be featured on our official Instagram page. Contest ends on Friday, December 27. Winners will be announced Friday, January 10, 2020!

Access Day


On Wednesday, November 27, the WVIA is hosting its 2nd Annual Access Day event for homeless individuals in the Westwood Village area. The goal of the event is to connect individuals with the services they need and to get them started on a path toward permanent housing.

The event will be hosted at the Westwood Presbyterian Church from 10:00am to 2:00pm. 
 
The WVIA is seeking donations for the event. To donate, please contact the WVIA before Thursday, November 21, 2019.

The following items are needed:
  • Large sweatshirts, sweatpants, and shirts 
  • Underwear (all sizes in original packaging) 
  • Backpacks or reusable bags 
  • Toiletries 
  • Female hygiene products

W Los Angeles Presents Movie Night on the WET Deck


W Los Angeles invites you to light up your holiday season at an outdoor movie night on the WET Deck featuring ELF on Wednesday, December 18th. This event is free and open to the public – make sure to RSVP.

Bring your friends and family. Seating and blankets will be available, and complimentary popcorn will be provided by STK Los Angeles!

Jerry Katell Popup Exhibition
Open House Event
1137 Westwood Blvd.


"People and Places" presents a sampling of local photographer Jerry Katell's work from his travels around the world.

The opening reception will take place on Thursday, November 21 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

The popup photography exhibition is open to the public with complimentary admission from Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00am to 7:00pm through December 12th, closed on Monday.

Measuring Success

 

WVIA Ambassadors keep track of their daily activities, and we have compiled a list of statistics from those daily reports.

Here's a glance of what the Ambassadors accomplished in October 2019:
  • Pressure washed over 605,401 square feet of sidewalk
  • 856,900 pounds of trash removed from City garbage cans
  • Returned 73 shopping carts 
  • Made 424 business contacts
