Hi again from OutCasting!
Straight allies are an important part of our continuing fight for equal rights. In this month's OutCasting OffAir, Callie and Alex talk about how people can be good allies. Have a listen!
The election of President Trump and Republican majorities in both houses of Congress poses big questions for LGBTQ people. Is marriage equality safe? This and other rights we've been fighting for for years — the right not to be discriminated against in housing, credit, public accommodations, and more — may be about to dissolve with FADA, the Orwellian-named First Amendment Defense Act, which is supported by Congressional Republicans and which President Trump has declared he will sign. FADA would allow anyone claiming religious beliefs to discriminate against us in these areas and more. We're currently working on a broadcast program that will explore exactly what rights LGBTQ people have — and what we don't — in today's United States, and how the political reality may affect these rights.
A number of you (you know who you are <grin>) made generous donations at the end of 2016. Thank you! But only a small percentage of people receiving this monthly newsletter have donated in the past year, and we hope you'll renew your support. We're a small organization and every donation counts!
Setting up a recurring gift billed directly to your credit card is fast and easy and will be greatly appreciated by all of us at OutCasting. Simply go here, enter your information, and voila! Recurring or one-time gift — your choice, though of course recurring gifts are generally better for us.
Thank you, and we'll be in contact again in March.
All our best,
Marc and the OutCasting team
