10ft Deep —

Welp, it happened again.

About once a year or so, a mysterious email thread falls from the sky and into my inbox, littered with language and keywords like "forklift", "huge wall", or "lots of spraypaint". After curiously scanning the interior of the email, my eyes then lead me to the subject line usually reading something like "Large Graphic Mural Project"...

Ah, there it is. Though I entertain the fleeting thought that someone in cyberspace has asked me to paint their bricks for big bucks, I reluctantly acknowledge the reality that the mistake has happened again. They've emailed the wrong Ben Johnston.

Some may know this already, but there's been a Big(ger) Ben in these design waters for a much longer time than I. And yes, younger me has awkwardly tried to reach-out about the irony. Though I actually have no interest in a career in mural artistry, I have mad love and respect for this Toronto-based 'Benny J' and his deep deep body of work.

Maybe one day I'll have the chance to meet the lad, but until then, I'll just keep forwarding him these rogue emails. Check out the Deeper Dive section below for an interview with the more badass & handsome version of me.
