Dear Fellow Disciples,
Did you have a chance to calculate your giving percentage?
In case you missed worship Sunday, the discipleship invitation was to total your income for the last twelve months, total your giving for the last twelve months, and then do a simple calculation of giving as a percentage of income.
Here are some percentages that may interest you:
10%: This is the amount that God asks us to return to him, also known as the tithe, which simply means “one tenth.”
13%: Cindy and I did our household giving calculation for the last twelve months. This is our giving percentage this year. It breaks down this way: 10% goes to Bethlehem, about 2% goes to help those in poverty, and 1% goes to help and support new and emerging leaders.
20%: This is the percentage God tells Joseph (of Old Testament fame) to put away each year for seven years in Egypt. This is enough to sustain Egypt for seven years of famine.
35%: This is how much has been given or pledged toward our beyond-our-walls Christmas offering to build and staff a middle school in Haiti. (That’s $8,400!)
105%: This the percentage of Operation Christmas Child boxes we gave toward our goal of 250 boxes. (We collected 262.)
This week of Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for the last two percentages in particular. May God continue to stir us to even greater generosity!
Persevering in Prayer,

Have you made your contribution for our beyond-our-walls Christmas offering: Hope for Haiti?
This Thursday we will gather for Thanksgiving Day worship at 9 am. You are welcome to bring a bag of groceries with you for our community food pantry.
On Sunday we will celebrate Christ the King. Following faith formation (Sunday school), we will decorate our worship space for Advent and Christmas. Please stay to help if you are able.
