Meditation and Announcements

The summer begins with Memorial Day in an unofficial way. Last year the Boys Scouts could not place flags on the graves of veterans in Michigan. I would go to the cemetery in Saline, Michigan to stand at the graves of as many of the veterans I could find. I have no idea who these people were as I read their rank and service branch. I don’t know if they were nice men of women. I said a little prayer of thanks to God. It was more about me remembering that they had done something that a small percentage of a country’s population does when it has a standing military. It also reminded me that my true identity is in relationship to God. I hope that this weekend we may show our respects to deceased veterans, but that it also helps us remember the identity we have through the Holy Spirit.  Let us all remember to let God’s love drape over us all.
